mine? dont see anything.was looking at a few things, dont want anything real special like the old days, just a dvd player thats got a bluetooth for the phone and camera for rear view. gonna take ps3 too so i can chill down at the beach and play madden. looked at a couple of pioneers and a cheap jensen( i know, jensen, eeehhhh? but ill go shopping with rich and see whats around. i really dont want to spend $$ on head unit since im supposed to be building the motor but for almost 1/2 price new for last years model and i get dvd, phone, satellite tv capability if i want to watch football if i get stuck in the car for less than 200, why not?

yeah its a pretty easy install did mine today in 30 mins and that included wiring/soldering the harness up.

Pioneer 3200dvd's used can be had for a pretty good price on ebay. 4v, 8 band eq ect. If you want a full 7" look at the avh-4x00 series.

double dins will fit u need to mod the dash and trim a little and move some parts around to get it to fit correctly.

read gmans thread it gives a brief walk through on how it fits

BS.

You can not remove the trim, shave the inner hole, solder 13 wires, properly position the deck, secure the deck and re install the trim in 30 minutes.

I'll assume he's talking about a single din gen 1 stereo, cuase theres no way to get a dd in the opening in 30 min unless you are equipped with a hammer, crowbar and masking tape..

p.s. Single dins that pop out are sooo 2002, and tacky.

I know it took me almost 2 hours to install my double din DVD player head unit. This was mainly because I "assumed" that all DD head units were the same size:lol: And I did almost zero research because of that. Imagine how pi$$ed off I was when after removing all the center stack trim, soldering the plug adapter to the wires on the back of the unit, relocating that little blue box thingy, and plugging it all into the existing wiring harness the damn head unit was too fuggin big to fit in the hole:eek: Had to use an X-Acto knife and dremel tool to trim the dash to make it fit. And even then I had to use weatherstrip to fill in the gigantic gaps on the left and right sides!! So basically the aftermarket unit was taller and narrower than the OEM unit. But once it was done, it looked pretty decent, I think. :)

trim took 1 minute to remove, soldering the wires took another 10 mins no memorization required as i used an aftermarket harness adapter no need to cut all the wires in the dash, cutting the dash with a jig saw took a whole minute and a half, and i didnt secure mine as i cut it tight enough that it doesnt move, simply slid it in place and no movement whatsover. it seriously only took roughly 30 mins. also mine is a 1996, so i think its a bit easier to do.

yea it looks good!

I think mine fit like a glove, no trimming and mine plays DVDs also. There is an add on nav option, unfortunately I thought it had BT but this model doesn't. But the cost of the head unit was like $380ish so for a touchscreen DVD playing multi read mp3 radio, works perfect for me. I just burn like 200 songs to a CD-Rom and leave it on shuffle.

the star trek is just CLASSIC!. i now know it will fit, just some minor adjusting to the opening. i was toying with the idea of a i pad size screen attatched to the stereo, just dont have a place to mount it, unless i was thinking of relocating the a/c temp controls and defrost panel if they were all removed the screen would fit the entire space. im working on a drawing and will share soon, it should work without too much difficulty.

Classic Star Trek TOS is my favorite! I've got all three seasons of TOS-Remastered on DVD plus all six original series movies (I've also got all the subsequent TNG movies, but Kirk and crew are the best). Anyhoo...what about putting a screen where the message center is? That is if you can do without it. Or relocate it off to the side or something. Because if you put a screen down low on the center stack where the HVAC controls are, it would be too distracting (even moreso than a 7" screen where the stereo is:D). I think the best way to go is with a DD touchscreen head unit. It's relatively simple and looks nice.

the screen will still be in the same place, just bigger. the controls will just move down to the spot where the defrost button is. there are no seat controls. just this (forgive my cropping skills)

will be all screen, then a/c controls just move down (i just have to see how much has to move) it shouldnt be that hard to just move it down the size it already is.

I don't think the a/c controls will fit in that panel where the defrost button is without some serious modification to the surrounding bezel and console. And would your screen be taller than it is wide?

I'm confused as to what he wants to do... Afaik any dd will fit rather it have a 4" screen or a 7" screen w/o lowering the ac/heat panel. I'm not too sure where he going with this, I'm not even sure he knows where he's going with this.

What? You don't consider a dvd player with blue tooth, back up camera and an incar ps3 fancy?? Sh*t I'm still rocking the non jbl option stock head unit with a tape adapter and ipod..but then again I don't give a sh*t about audio and sound systems in cars..so long as it can play music with decent quality I don't care..I'd rather spend money else where.

I know where I'm headed I saw in car audio mag a car with a bigger screen in the same locatio, diff car but about the same space. If I'm going to replace the stereo anyways although I could hook up the subs to the factory unit, a good head unit is around 200 and up and remember I'm in a wheelchair so I've got to keep my right hand on the gas/brake and left on wheel. If I get a call or have to make one I've got to pull over. I can't do the steer with my knee thing anymore so a bluetooth phone readu unit is golden. Also these days they make so many different size screens for auto applications and they are pretty cheap if its just a screen, touchscreens are obviosly more. I haven't even looked into the dash to see how much of a PITA it may be to move climate controls. Back in. The day when I worked at a custom. Shop doing custom sub enclosures, kick panels door panels motorized racks neon the whole shebangvideo was just hitting the scene and I had the link setup for my ps3 in a couple of my cars. Its really not that complicated and fun to have at cruise night or the hangout spot. All jobs start with an idea I was thinking I could put a regular size unit with a bigger screen in there for an extra 100-125 for a screen why not? Yes I've got a motor that needs to be put together to spend $$ on but I've also got nothing to do during the day soooo its a project i like but like I said I haven't even looked at it yet. And if your still using the cassette adapter all I have to say is wow. Unless you want to keep it stock then, kudos.
