double din?

Yes I've got a motor that needs to be put together to spend $$ on but I've also got nothing to do during the day soooo its a project i like but like I said I haven't even looked at it yet.

Can your motor not be worked on during the day or am I missing something? Not trying to be a smart azz but I think I would prefer to have my car running and driving before worrying about setting in it and yelling "vroom vroom" and listening to music. Juss sayin....

sorry been out of it for a few days complications from my surgury i fell in the shower and now have the screws holing my spine together loose and may have to have another surgury. i have a car that runs just fine im getting from someone just fixing some issues before i take hold of it.he wants to make sure i dont have any issues after i get it so he's been fixing a few details. ive been without a car since the wreck at the end of june. the front air bag and LCA. had to take the LCA from my wreck because the bolt to remove the airbag from the LCA was NOT coming out being beaten heated, etc and brakes. the motor is a side project that i have been collecting the pieces for to build and put in for a year. mygreat8 has been helping me extremely while juggling work and other issues. sure the motor can be worked on when i have all the $$ and all parts accounted for. im on disability and make less than 1/2 what i used to make in a week per month now so my plan is to drive the 'new' car and leave it alone because it drives and shifts flawlessly, the stereo is like i said 'just an idea' for now but i have my amps and subs sitting in my room and am going to put them in when all is ready.

Alright, that sounds like a good plan. Sorry to hear about the fall in the shower. Hope all goes well, if surgery is needed. Wasn't trying to get all in your business or anything but the way I was reading it, it appeared that you had gotten another car (shell, I assumed) and was working on a motor for it but instead of messing with it during the day, you were doing the stereo instead but now I understand it a lot better. Yes, I remember the car that was wrecked and you were damn lucky you even made it out of there alive. It looked to be bashed in right behind where you were sitting. Ok, so Rich has helped you get another car that does run good and nothing major anyway is wrong with it but you have a motor on the side that you want to get built up like you want, so you can have it installed. In the meantime, you want to have some tunes in the flawless running and shifting car.

Now I gotchya. :)

the fall was over a month ago got a concussion (broke off the soap shelf with back of head), but have been noticing something wrong back there and im sure the accident didnt help either. hit driver side in a right turn spin right at the rear tire just toward the door, another foot it would have been it. yea the engine i had been putting together for a while, then when i had the cams put in with rebuilt heads in jan the car ran great, but jon screwed me by not replacing the VLCM and bypassed it one night it came off, but thats all old news, but ive got all the parts for a c headed cammed beast good for 400 hp at least,on paper. i just was going to get a low mile motor and put the new parts on,but that seemed 1/2 ass to me so im going to new flattop pistons instead of the 3cc dish just for a slight boost in compression. ive rebuilt all kinds of motors and probably have the ability to do this, and thats fun for me i just dont have the knowledge of these motors,or a place to do it myself or even with help so its going to the performance shop BBR in boca to be built and possibly put in when the ducks get in a row, right now they're in the pond swimming in circles. im just gonna keep it simple and get the dbl din and live with it because even if i can get a screen for there it would have to be touch controlled going back to a unit mounted actually in trunk. i checked into it and the "well, anything is possible" phrase was kicked around but the two custom shops i talked to say its not that uncommon these days mounting oversize screen 'controllers' in dash or overhead drop downs but those are really expensive. the dvd/stereo is put in trunk or under seat, glove compartment and controlled by the touchscreen the units start at 700 they have cheaper ones but he said thats what you get cheap. pioneer and kenwood, alpine all make them , then theres the screen i did some measuring just for the hell of it and youn could conceivably put a 10" there if you mad " a few tweaks" but its just way too much another 350-500 for the screen so motor first, tires/rims, paint, interior is the progression before a project like that and of course the lotto, and oh yea for those who dont know madden 13 comes out aug 28

So anyway all I need is a half hour to swap my DD Alpine into my 96' and then swapped it into my 98'. Just need a box cutter knife to shave the plastic behind the trim piece. Have a Peripheral plug n play adaptor so nothing has to be cut or modified.

Only thing that takes any time is running RCA's and a large gauge wire to the trunk for CD Changer and AMP for Sub.

what unit is that?and what is a peripheral plug n play adapter, it plugs into factory harness to run stock interior speakers? and does it allow you to bypass the park lock or did you do it yourself?

I think it's an IVA305 or 405 Alpine if I remember correctly? Not made anymore and I want to replace it with a BT Alpine that will do the GPS from my Cell threw the screen and do Pandora.

The Peripheral adaptor lets you just plug into the factory JBL system without cutting anything. Has trim pots to adjust if you need to and they also make a Park Lock eliminator too. Got em from my friends shop but you can get em from EBAY or Crutchfield.
