I think I am going to buy them tomorrow. This is the first I have ever heard of perfomance coils for the LS. Please if you think they are good DON"T BUY THEM ALL...MY BABY NEEDS IGNITION COILS(she's a gold digger)

Are you referring to me or the product? Cause I really would like to know if these are worth my money. The company is new 2005 and its listed on eBay so I am skeptical. Just looking for advice. I need to replace my coils ASAP!

What troubles me and it may not be a problem at all, is that there are no specifications to validate the claims. Two things to look for in an ignition coil (actually a step up transformer) are secondary volts and impedance. Both should be the same or higher than the published spec for OEM.

FYI...I got these coils and so far so good. NO failures...knock on wood. AIP ensured me that these coils had a failure rate of 0.08% out of the first 1000. This made me buy them and they were cheap!

Can they provide documentation for this? I want to see actual performance results that rate them better spark than OEM. Visteon has been around for a long time and almost all of their product are of exceptional quality. Visteon is an OEM replacement though. They do not state that they will provide better spark and burn. I could paint some chinese coils yellow and put an Accel sticker on them, and sell them WAY below market value, and even state failure rate without providing proof. Why not? How long have you had them? And why does it state high performance and then in the details state "High Quality OEM Replacement Part"? High performance without proof is just a marketing gimmick.

but they HAVE to be awesome right, they are bright red!

and while putting SS break lines and slotted rotors help the car stop a little better, it wasn't until i painted the calipers red that I really noticed how well the breaks worked.

So...Before I bought them I was iffy about the complany since they are new. I did have a little faith since they are an American company. Anyways I talked to their CS agents and they informed me that I would recieve an email from one of their techs. Here it goes:

Hi Adrian, unfortunately we just recently developed this performance coil for the Lincoln so we have not had sufficient time to conduct any testing to determine the exact specs on the coils, essentially we have designed them to match our Ford Performance coils which basically means the windings inside are just tighter which typically should result in an increase of output voltage of about 8k-10k volts. We should have specific data available in the future, i suggest you check back with us in 2-3months.
Thanks
Kevin

I literally got them the day I started this post...mainly because I wanted to prove gcwimmer wrong. It has been awhile so I will try and get in contact with them for proper documentation. I told them that if these were what they claim them to be there would be alot of LS owners interested. I will let you guys know ASAP.

so your proving him wrong by posting about COP's
you may or may not have actually purchased,
may or may not have actually installed,
have zero proof they performed better
and have all of three months (if they're even in)

WOW, way to stick it to him...
Your the man

Is this whole forum full of douche bags? I originally started this post for HELP! Instead I get empty responses from people who have nothing better to do than talk out of their ass. Come on guys I thought LVC was for people who love their cars and want to get the best they can out of it. Guess not. I purchased these coils, installed them by myself with no mechanical experience. This was an accomplishment for me and since then I have been working on all my friends/families cars. Doing all the commonly paid for services for free. I’m not here to scam anyone. I just want to share my experience with fellow LS owners. This is the only info I got before I made my purchase.

The problem here is that you have been tricked into believing in snake oil, and you are trying to convince the rest of us about it with no evidence.
The search for a better coil (better as in lasts for a few hundred thousand miles) has gone on quite a while here and continues.
The BS response from the company that you bought these from is just that, BS. You can't usefully increase the coil voltage at all. The actual voltage that you get is determined by the gap distance of your spark plug. It's as simple as that. If these plugs were really a higher voltage design, they would be telling you to set the plug gap bigger than stock. There's no real advantage to higher voltage anyway. There is some advantage to higher power (which would mean higher current), but they didn't say anything about higher power.

The real problem with the LS coils (as far as I can tell) is that the epoxy inside breaks down over time ans loses some of its insulating ability. As a result of this, the coil starts to discharge (arc) inside instead of at the gap of the plug. I suspect that this is related to the way the coils are mounted in the engine and subjected to so much heat, but I have no proof.

So let me get this straight, you started THREAD for help and wanted to know what we thought about a cheap Ebay coil "claiming" better performance over OEM COPs with zero evidence to back them up.

You were advised against them, told what to purchase instead, told why they were better, and given a link on more information on Visteon and where to buy...

Then you come back making un-provable claims just to prove a valued member wrong with no evidence to do so....

Call us all Douche bags and complain about the advice given....

Hmmm, Let me know where i have this wrong....

Dude I drive 120 miles a day to and from work. I figured I would try these and beat the ish out of them...lead footing it majority of the time maintaining and average around 80mph. In doing this I would think that they would have failed by now since the MOTORCRAFT coils I got before failed within a few weeks (not all of them). As of today 105 days later about 10000miles on them and no issues. These are the facts from me. Granted there is always a case by case.

I drive 80 to 90 MPH in a fairly hot climate. I made it to over 90K miles on a set of OEM before one started to fail. (I also have another LS that only made it to 60K or so before the first failure.) I don't think that 10K miles says anything yet.

FYI
I also forgot to mention that she has been overheating like 3-5 times a day. Which I would think put more stress on the coils. This pass saturday I changed the thermostat and performed a radiator flush. No overheating...yet. The motorcarafts I got before were from Advance auto and Autozone(had to do it a few times due to failures) This was very costly which is why I now do everything myself.

^^^*ding, we have a winner, give the man a prize!

performance and Ebay, just like a dripping wet electrician working without shutting off the power first.

I found this plastic turbo on ebay, It has to work, they company says it does.

Here's the thing, companies exist to do one thing, make money if you think there is any other reason they are around you are an idiot. So to make money they will tell you what you want to hear, be it truth or not.

There is a saying, say it with me "if it is to good to be true, it probably is"

To give you an idea of how much performance costs, you will spend any where from 500-1000 to get anywhere from 20-50 horse so anything for 50 bucks claiming 50 horsepower is obviously a scam. If they where just an oem replacement they would not claim to be anything more or less.

Its your car, I don't care if you buy 8 coils for a 60's firebird and put them on your car, but try to listen to people who have already been down the path you are walking.

Humans are special in their ability to learn from others' mistakes, but stupid in that they refuse to do so....

I am willing to listen and am sorry for coming off like a dick but not once has anyone said that they have tried these...except for me. AIP electronics seemed like a legit US company specializing in OEM/performance replacements for coils, distributors, and MAS. I have had my LS for 5 years and had every problem that could go wrong. I just wanted someone to tell me that they bought/installed these before and they were crap. So far not one person has proven to me that this is the case other than its from eBay…and the color makes it high performance LOL…I understand your frustrations but I checked into this company before making my purchase. The fact that it was listed on eBay and not the official site scared me so I came to you guys to see who else has tried these.
