Listening to the very wise member "joegr" I have started removing some of the cooling parts to clean up and inspect future issues i found several things that I need help to identify. The shop i used to replace my cooling parts before was very shady and i see why i am having issues again so soon.

What is the name of this part? They put some glue looking stuff on it and its obvious this has been split.

This same tube came off this part which has a very clear break in the tube assembly, i'm sure the price of this part is going to further upset me, but i need to replace this part as well. Can you identify this part and the best place to find it.

I assume these are the upper and lower radiator hose? If not what is the part # for the hose that shows the obvious leaks? Is that broken bracket something that needs to be replaced also?

Thanks in advanced for any help with this!

That's the lower radiator hose. (The upper hose comes out of the top of the radiator.) The two small hoses, two large hoses, plastic pipe, and brackets are all inseparable parts of the lower radiator hose assembly.

You said that you had all these parts replaced a couple of years ago. It really looks like this (lower radiator hose) is original to the car and never been replaced. I wonder what other needed parts haven't been replaced...

Perfect example of why one should always insist on old replaced parts returned. (Unless a core is involved)

Thats the same shiot arse glue previous owners Mech used on my Cops connectors and valve covers. Thanks goodness I found a mech who is good and cleaned up all that shiot. Should be a law against that!

BTW, as I learned OEM valve covers come with a new set of bolts. Wasted 50 bucks buying 14 packs of them when I bought the parts. Still saved money buying the parts myself though. :) That I think is also just just a ventilation hose, so if it sits snuggly and seals well on the broken valve cover part you might be ok in letting that slide for a bit. Of course if your valve covers are like mine, the PO mechs wasted at least 50% of the bolts holding them down, so they required replacing anyway.

Yeah... that flex tub in the first and second pic is just a breather hose for the PCV system. Never seen a cooling system hose go into the head through a valve cover.

Oviously that lower hose is "with oil cooler".

Thanks for the help, and insight. I will purchase the additional parts on pay day, until then I will continue cleaning it up and see what else wasn't replaced. The shop that supposedly did the repairs was recommended by a friend.

There's a plastic pipe that comes up from the top of the engine at a 45 degree angle, going to the thermostat housing and crossover tube. They may have skipped that one too, as it is the most labor intensive part to change. (And yes, it very much needs to be changed.)

Sorry for the long delay, work and the holidats had my hands full. I finally have gotten back to working on it, yes I purchased the elbow also. I am stuck on trying to remove the "EGR system module to exhaust manifold tube fitting" the thing won't budge at all. Im worried about applying to much pressure and breaking it.

Which way are you trying to turn it? It is clockwise to loosen it, since it is upside-down.
You may want to remove the fuel pressure sensor, as there is some danger of hitting it with the wrench, and it is fragile.

You could try a little PB Blaster and some carefully placed heat with a propane torch. Might be enough to get it loose. Just be careful not to melt anything in close proximity.

IIRC... I didn't disconnect the tube. I unbolted the EGR from the side if the throttle body, (after disconnecting the electrical connector and all hoses). Then I gently turned the nut on the tube and rotated the EGR valve away from the throttle body. If you do it this way,,, don't lose the metal gasket between the throttle body and EGR valve.

Been there done this. Total PITA because once it drops down, it is legit gone forever on top of the block.

Cradling the EGR with one hand,,, while turning the nut to rotate the EGR... you can catch the gasket with your fingers. Just have a plunger type claw tool handy to grab the gasket. OTOH,,, if the gasket drops... this give you a perfect excuse to remove the TB and the elbow to the intake,,, and replace the TB heater hose that comes off the block on the backside of where the plastic elbow mounts.

This may work out for the better anyway since there are only 2 ways to replace the coolant elbow and the TB heater hose. Pull the intake,,, or notch the TB elbow mount flange on the intake enough to pull the back bolts out of the elbow. The TB heater hose can be a b!tch to replace... but it's one of those things that should be done,,, unless you want to tear everything prematurely apart a second time.

The LS is not one of the cars you can get by with using a basic Craftsman 150 piece socket set.

I removed the TB and still couldn't get to the stupid gasket that dropped. That thing is a wormhole.

I finally got a chance to continue working on this car and i got the manifold off and saw this. Its some plastic piece, I'm almost certain it doesn't belong there but i want to double check. Also what do i use to clean the surface, and is there a cleaner i can use to get all the gunk out of the valves? and what sealant should i use to put the gasket back on? As always thank you for your help.

The loose bag of insulation laying there? It's supposed to be there and you should leave it there. They (V8s) all have them.

The black plastic valley cover snapped in place? It's supposed to be there and you should leave it there. They (V8s) all have them.

I like brake parts cleaner, but don't get carried away inside the intake ports. Vacuum any dirt you knocked in there out, then leave them be.
If you put new intake gaskets in, then don't use any sealant. If you reuse the old, then a little (very little) black RTV should be good (both sides of the gaskets). You don't want it to squeeze into the ports and block some of the airflow.

Awesome! Thank you. I covered the ports already. I have new gaskets, and will put them on once i clean it up! Thanks joegr, you have helped me immensely!
