Dumb Question

Hey man, whatever makes you feel better. I've seen so many tests and engines torn down after using Amsoil, both in diesel and gas engines. There is absolutely no comparison, not even close. I did a ton of research before making the switch, I was skeptical too. I don't care if you switch or not, I'm not a dealer, just a user and I don't have stock in this oil at all. My proof is in the miles and I'm pretty comfortable with that, if you want to waste money changing your oil every 3-4K miles, be my guest. They have put so much effort and money into creating the best oil and filters, they have a product that is far superior to anything you can buy. Obviously putting it in an engine that's not mechanically sound isn't the best idea, but if your motor is at that stage, oil should be your least concern. We could go on arguing about oil, but you are obviously set in your ways and I am more than comfortable with my intervals, but I was like you before I started using it, I was nervous as a whore in church when I first went past 3,000 miles. Now I don't even look at my odometer until 10K or after. Over a half a million miles later, I wouldn't let anything else touch my motors.

I ran Amsoil in my SHO up to around 30,000 miles (bought with 5,000-ish miles on the clock), then switched back to Mobil1, and it's still going strong at well over 120,000 miles.

If you do what you're supposed to do with Amsoil, you change the filter regularly (somewhere around 12.5K miles, IIRC), and periodically send a sample of the oil back to Amsoil for testing. They tell you when to change, based on oil chemistry.

From what my Dad told me, motorcyclists swear by Amsoil, and have for decades (at least since the '70s). The only catch is that it has historicaly been hard to find, because Amsoil only sells through Amsoil dealers.

Oh, and of all the synthetics, Amsoil is the only one that will not void manufacturer's warranties by using their extended change intervals. Mobil 1 will not.

Yeah, I believe it made its money on race cars and race bikes, then branched out.
