Anyone able to tell me if its easy enough to swap the ECU computer off a 00' Lincoln LS? I was told my computer was fried after replacing four coils and that I had to take it to the dealer for this. What is involved in replacing, can I use a used computer?

It will 100% have to be reflashed. Your gauge cluster holds all your security info for the car with the keys, that has to match the ECU for the car to even start, those have to be synced.
The chances of you finding a ECU with the same key codes programmed into it as your current ECU and cluster is probably 10000000000000000 to 1.

Actually it's neither. The computer does not need reflashed (assuming you get the right one)...but the dealer has to go in to the security area of the computer to allow it to WORK. I have had this done and it's also covered in the service manual so I don't think starting a 3rd thread will change it;-)
See what I mean about different answers. Obviously I want to save money on this as I already have spent $706 in replacing four coils. I just called the dealer and they told me they would not flash a used computer. I would have to purchase a new one from them for them to link it to my car but not without diagnosing the problem first. In other words they will not go by someone elses diagnosis, its a $125 charge up front an then if they decide it is the computer they would go from there or if they find any other problems like bad sensors they would replace those first. Thats why I want to stay away from them. There has to be an alternative to stealership service.

I am in the Chicago area and have a programmer, all I need is a wifi internet connection to reprogram it for you. You just have to be sure that the ECU will work with your vehicle. I dont know how to verify that. I can reprogram all security settings as long as you have 3 keys as well.
Just swap the ecu and take it to the dealer. This is not a reflash. They need to go deeper. Here is the procedure FROM THE SERVICE MANUAL
Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section 414-00 .
Remove the cabin air filter plenum. For additional information, refer to Section 412-00 .
Remove the glove compartment. For additional information, refer to Section 501-01 .

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Connect the scan tool.
Select ignition control module (ICM).
Select ENTER SECURITY ACCESS. Wait 10 minutes for security access to be granted.
Select PARAMETER RESET.
Disconnect the scan tool.
Place the ignition key in the OFF position.
Place the ignition key in the RUN position.
Remove the ignition key.
