Being in Canada and today at minus 28 degrees BRRRRR I was looking for a blockheater cord on my 2005 LS. To my surprise I found a small cover in the front bumper cover with 3 terminals so I believed this was the block heater cord connection but the position of the terminals where different from the normal heater or extension cords. So I got in touch with LM and would you believe the cost of this cord was $180 + taxes Canadian which absolutely floored me. What I did was made up a cord to fit this receptable and being in an underground parkade have not had to use it. If anybody has an original cord for sale please let me know. :eek: :eek: :eek:
 
Yes, isn't it wonderful to live in 'The Great White North'? Where did you find a correct female plug? I've got a lawnmower cord that is OK on the male end but I would like to plug my LS in occasionally. At -20, I get a strange bumping sound from the engine compartment for about 3 minutes. It might be a belt trying to get unfrozen because it disappears. Also, my '05 seat heater fan is a little noisy. In June when I bought it I didn't try the seat heater and don't know if it is still under warranty. It's covered under the extended-warrenty but I think there is a $100 deductable.

Waiting to hear about the plug.

Might be worth cleaning the filter, if you slide the seat all the way forward you can reach it from behind the seat, its a round twist off filter that's supposed to be cleaned from time to time, although I've never actually cleaned mine.

The filter is on the bottom of the seat near the front pointing down.

Try looking in the spare tire well, that's where i found mine, who knows you might have one already.
 
Got my hopes up, even checked under my spare. Its been -15F to -25F here the last week. LS starts like a champ in the cold, but I don't want to do that to the engine.

Does the 2000 LS have this small cover? I looked and couldnt find it. Didn't look very long though, warmed up to 10F, but the wind started blowing. Hard.
 
I have the same block heater plug location as you. And the same problem with not having the cord. I think I might do the old school approach, and cut the existing one off, splice in some extension cord, run it up by the headlight, and splice on a regualr female end.

Hi Papa A.
Looked at the spare tire compartment and did not find an original cord. I am also not paying $180 for a cord from the stealership.
Here is what I did, I took a spare cord from my computer and took it apart
at the female end, turned the connecters 45 degrees around and assembled the whole thing with some homemade spacers and it work perfectly. Total cost one used PC cord and some labour.
Note the connections on the PC cord are vertical and the connections on the Lincoln female plug are horizontal. Hope this helps. :p :p :p

See the attached pics.....is it the 6b019 or the 6b018 that you need?? You can see the $180.00 item that is incorrect. I think you need the 6B019 and LVC cost is 69.15 plus postage to the far north.
The complete "KIT" p/n 6D008 is not available as noted on the pic.

You're right. Yours is a dumb reply.

Ever hear of a .22 single shot Derringer? No? I'm not surprised. Much lighter than a Coil on Plug assembly. Smaller, too.

Block Heater plugin '05LS

I hate being RIPPED-OFF.

Since I first posted about a block heater plugin (2009), Lincoln has modified its price for this cord to $170.00 plus tax--another $25.

Using Google, I found that this weird plug was used on some computer servers. I went to Tiger.ca and ordered a 10 foot cord with this C19 plug on one end and a regular 120V plug on the other end. Cost? $17. With shipping/tax, about $24.

However you need to do a small modification...the 'shoulder' of the plug is too close to the end and this prevents the plug from being inserted far enough into the receptacle in the grill. So I used a Dremel and modified it.

It was -29 degrees last week but by the time I got this cord it was only -15. Now I'm waiting for a return to cold weather to try this.

I use my block heater (glad my cord wasn't missing) at anything below freezing. Overkill? Maybe.
 
I give...... What is a "block" heater? Some kind of knit cap? ;):D:shifty:
 
Anyone have pics of this cover. I'm curious if my car has the block heater??
 
It's in the lower front grille on the drivers side.

Huh ? seems the placed them on the passenger side as well on some models.
My tow-out-of-ditch hook in that side though.

BigRig, did you get a mclaren??
 
Gen 1 one's also had the block heater. On gen 1's the plug is on the passenger side, almost in the same position otherwise. It seems they were optional. If you have one the plug will be there and the cord should be in the trunk.
