I was doing some work on my car and must have left the key in or lights on or something and the battery went dead. I hooked a jump pack to it and it cranks just fine,but won't start. So I checked the codes and there was a code "engine disabled by PATS" but I'm not sure why, I'm using the factory master key that I have always used, that just worked to start it Earlier today. I tried clearing the codes and trying it again but still won't start. I figured it wouldn't be that simple. So what do I do now? How do i get PATS to stop disabling the engine? Please don't tell me it has to be done by the dealership...

A few different places I've read now say that when pats disables the engine, it also disables the stater. Mine had a "engine disabled by PATS" code, but it would still crank? So now I'm really not sure what to do?

Turn the key to run and wait for the PATS light to stop its steady flash. When it does, it should flash out a code. Let us know what the code is.

Yes, we need to know the actual codes to help at all here, either the lamp flash codes or codes pulled by Forscan or another Ford/Lincoln specific scanner. If the starter is engaging, then probably the code(s) you have are being misinterpreted.

A jump pack might have enough juice to get the engine to crank... but with the amperage draw of the starter... the voltage drop could be playing mind games with the PATS.
Get a new battery first, and see what happens.
Keep in mind that the LS battery is 750cca. Your jump pack is what? The LS electrical system can be very "voltage sensitive". (it has feelings ya know

)Is the "PATS light" on the gauges? Or the red light on the dash that blinks? And I did pull the codes, it said exactly that I'm pretty sure it was P1260 and "engine disabled by PATS" is what it said. I got it started. I left it on a slow charger overnight and then the next day my buddy suggested something but I'm pretty sure it was just to program the remotes but it says to turn the key to on and off 8 times then the door locks cycle then hit any button on the remote. I did that even though it sounded like that was just to program the remote but after that it started right up. Pretty sure it was just the battery voltage being too low and like someone said the jump pack had enough to start it. But it wasn't a steady enough voltage for long enough for the car to figure out what's going on lol

I think if it was a PATS issue the engine wouldn't crank at all
just read this from the repair manual. pretty sure this was my problem...
