Engine Light/Lean Code Again!!!!WTF!!!!

Just got the car back last friday. Had MAF sensor replaced by a shop in a nearby town and front o2 sensors replaced by a different shop. Then today i had an exhaust shop put on new magnaflow tips. As i was leaving the shop the engine light came on again and it started to idle fairly rough, but i took off slowly then drove it to the shop that replaced the MAF sensor. Mechanic scanned it n said it was throwing a lean code again, but it was o.k. to drive home. It ran fine on the way home. He cleared the code before i left and it didnt come on again. Any thoughts on what the problem might be? P.S. it's 03 V8 with 90,000. Also has magnaflow mufflers with x-pipe and resonator delete if that would have anything to do with it. exhaust changes after the cats would have no way to make the motor throw a lean code.

That's what i thought, but then again I think these cars are so touchy that anything you think wouldn't matter, would make a difference.

I'm assuming the shop checked for vacuum leaks? Any air getting in through the intake after the MAF? Fuel filter? Idk it sounds like you need a different shop if their solution is to reset the light and hope it doesn't come back.

He told me it could be a vacum leak too. It's also had the fuel filter replaced, but I'm starting to wonder what all he's checked. My father thinks i should take it to one of the local dealers near where we live. I'm really considering it.

It could be a vacuum leak? Why doesn't he check and find out instead of throwing parts at it? I don't like dealers, but if you don't have any other shops around I would.

Ya that's what I thought. I might as well try the dealer. They might charge me a little more, but it might be worth it in the end to get it figured out once and for all.

Marginal COPs can cause a lean code and rough idle...

If you're on your original set at 90k miles it would be good to do them anyway, regardless if its the problem. When was your car purchased? I have an 03 and got all mine replaced for free.

It's already had the Coils replaced under the recall warranty deal. I guess I should have stated that at the beginning because that would be an obvious place to start. I did purchase it back in 2010 though.

It wasn't a recall. It was a warranty extension. They normally only replace the coils that have failed at the time. It's possible that some of the remaining ones have failed now.

Ok. Warranty extension. My bad. All of the coils have been replaced though. I believe the 8th one went out at ~75,000 if remember correctly.
