I have a '90 LSC with a hard to locate oil leak. The oil pan is dry. There is no oil coming from the valve covers either.

Any suggestions where it may be coming from?

I am sure I am not burning it because it is on the floor. It appears it is coming from the top back of the engine but not at the rear main seal. It seems to be coming from higher?

Cam seal, or if it's higher than that it's coming from the back of the intake.

The back of the intake. Is this a big job to repair?

Intake gaskets aren't that bad. You can get it done in a day. It requires pulling the upper and lower intakes off, then replacing the gaskets. You might as well replace the thermostat and valve cover gaskets while you're at it, though.

You have all been very helpful. I will replace the lower intake gaskets later this week.

Thanks to all for the information.

You do know your way around cars, right? Like knowing enough to stuff rags or paper towels into the heads to keep stuff from getting down in there when you're pulling the parts off and replacing the seals? If not, you may want to at least get a Haynes manual and give it a read-through before jumping into this. I just don't want a little oil leak turning into a paperweight for an engine.
