Etc engine failsafe mode

It's possible (but very remote) that running out of gas could have damaged a plug or stressed a coil.
I feel like there are good odds that replacing the all whatever brand coils with Motorcraft coils could resolve this, but I can't guarantee that. You might try swapping coil #4 with #1 and see it that changes the problem at all. (#4 is closest to the firewall on the passenger side, where the PCM is.)
 
Thanks I haven't had time to pull coils yet but will obviously go that route this weekend. I was just mentally going down the path about fuel starvation and air in system etc. Having owned many diesel trucks I know running a fuel system dry can cause problems when trying to get engine running properly again.
 
please help. just replaced coils and plugs a few days ago and now failsafe. p2107, p2110 won't clear. when started, the car revs past 2500, then down to 500. then sits steady around normal idle but it is very rough. shakes the entire car. hissing sound coming from K&N free so tried spraying down the Maf sensor but still same thing. I had just put in a bottle of stp Injector cleaner about 20 miles prior to the failsafe mode. also I did use motorcraft and dgk iridium gapped correctly and checked. any suggestions are greatly appreciated
