Well, I now have 2.5" pipes, removed the resonators, added Magnaflow X-Pipe, and dual Flowmaster Super 40's.

To bo honest it doesn't sound like I thought it would, or wanted it to. I thought it was going to be louder. It seems to be just a little louder than stock.

Looks like I'll be getting some cutouts to get the sound I want.

heh heh yeah... ummm that's great... So like.... Are we seeing any meat and potatoes with this sound mod you did?

Power etc? :woowoo2:

The only thing I can do is take a small video and use that for sound. I'll get on it when it's not so hot out.

Performance seems roughly the same, maybe a little loss in the low end, little gain in the high.

It will get louder, you need to burn up the glass in the mufflers. I don't know how long it takes to break in mufflers and burn up the glass but it will get louder. Also the x-pipe should have muffled it a little aswell.

ok this maybe a stupid question but what are the resonators and what do they do? :Bang

The Crossover Pipe helps quiet the sound. I have this installed on my 65 Fastback Mustang and felt the same way. I was expecting it to be louder.

I have the exact same set up as you do on my 01 LS without the cross over and went to a dyno day with 30 Mustangs. The owners all talked about how loud my car was on the dyno.

I'm starting to get a little more used to it. Part of the problem is my truck I had right before this was much louder, and I was used to that. This doesn't compare to that sound at all.

I'll give it some time and possibly make some adjustments later on.

Funny thought that putting the crossover in and taking the resonators out had about the same effect on sound.. hmmm

If my old Firebird didn't have a crossover it would be completely unbareable without tailpipes as it sets.

I was looking at the pipes the other day and it looks to me that the majority of the Lincoln has 2" pipes. Just doesn't feel right to me with a 280net HP setup... If only we had an alternative setup with longtubes, cats, 2.5" pipes and a crossover with decent mufflers out back.

Looking forward to a sound bite though! Thanks!

straight pies, cherry bombs, and 70's chrome side exhause, make it really loud, and in both ways i mean, haha.

Magnaflow

Wus going on. i did the same exact set up- first i bought the magnaflow exhaust. but for some reason it sounded blotty, and not loud enough. so i went back and got the resonators takin off. Now they scream. get a lot of compliments. even from stangs..lolol

Ok, here's a small vid, couldn't figure out how to extract the audio. It is slightly louder and deeper than it sounds on here.

LS Vid

Below is a another of my truck that I had before this. This vid was taken while driving down a road late at night, with the windows up. This may have something to do with the reason why I think the LS still sounds pretty quiet.

SOUNDS SWEEEEETT!!!

my magnifis were used in my friends g35, he had no cats just a strait pipe and the mufflers, so the glass was burned in them which makes them better(louder) :)

Kinda irritated that I spent $70 on the X and $60 to install it now.

Not sure if I should try removing that or just go with some cutouts.

but isnt that illegal?....... to remove the cats?

ya. Reson he took off mufflers because he got a ticket and had to get them put stock pipes back on.

I hope you do not mind me piggy backing here but for the longest time I have had vibration under my car when stopped at lights and such. I think I might have narrowed it down to the exhaust. However, it does not seem to be touching anything. I only noticed the problem because I could see the post cat 02 sensor cable oscillating and from there I was barely able to see the oscillation of the exhaust pipes between the cats and the X pipe. I put my foot on the clamp and could feel it cyclically vibrating. The right resonators do not appear to be hung to the same height and I am wondering if this sounds typical of a misaligned exhaust. Thank you in advance.
