Exhaust Question

Actually it would make a bit more power on top and less down low with larger pipes. It looks like the LS comes with 2.25, which should be fine for a 3.9 liter engine. This is one of the items on the LS that the engineers got correct IMO. I'd go back with 2.25 if it were mine, and definitely wouldn't go more than 2.5 inch.

Maybe it's just a stigma I have, like V8-or-bust (the new GT[40] with the EcoBoost V6 hurts me a little, even with mid-engined 600hp)

I honestly couldn't believe it when I heard its the only option... I figured for sure it would get the new flat-plane crank 5.2 they have been cooking up... nothing like designing a san entry level supercar... I'd be surprised if it beets much more than the new GT-Rs and ZO6s(if even)...

sad sad news. probably should have been a V8 ecoboost! all I have to say is I hope thats not the high end of that motor, and there is still room to get crazy with because 1000HP+ TT Ford GTs are just a thing of beauty.

I expect the Gt to edge the Z06 and GTR with lighter weight, better balance, and lower center of gravity, beating the Z06's higehr power and the GTR's AWD, but 600hp isn't much of an improvement of the 2005 GT's 550. That increase is on par with the '15 Subaru STi. The 02 STi felt balls-to-the-wall fast for the time (at least 0-60 feeling), but now... now it's just quick and fat and hasn't kept up with other current sports cars.

Let's just hope that, the same way Dodge may offer an entry level V8 Viper, the V6 GT is the entry level engine, and offer a 750+HP turbo Voodoo V8.

EcoVoodoo?
VoodooBoost?

Or at least crazy-for-2015 light weight, like under 3000lbs.

I actually remember reading a Ford engineer's claim a month or two ago that the SHO engine could "easily" make 600hp... I guess they were foreshadowing the GT's realease. But still, who wants to own a magnificent American exotic powered by a Taurus motor?

did someone say gt ? :shifty:

oh I'm sure, but then again, those two are not really (at least in my book) super cars, and should not be any problem competing with(it sure as hell better not...).

no and I do get that the ecoboost should have a lot more torque a lot lower, but at 550, the old GT had tons of headroom in the power department, I'm just worried that with only three and a half liters, it going to be a lot harder/more expensive to get it where it needs to be so ford can be taken seriously in the supercar world. good luck looking cool when you have the slowest car of all your uber rich friends...

I was just reading an interview from one of the GT's main project engineers, and he specifically said that they knew from day one that this was going to be the ecoboost showcase, and that they specifically didn't want to bother with the higher weight and lower torque and worse fuel mileage from a V8... he also seemed pretty sure that the shelby was going to have an exclusive with the 5.2 and they weren't gonna use it anywhere else

not gonna lie, A 06 GT is the top car on my "First car I buy when I win the lottery' list!

Maybe there will be some magic in the transmission, like a 9-speed starting at 4:1 and going to 0.67:1 or something. We'll just have to see :/

The GTR has a 3.8L V6 and they've been pushed over 1000hp, so there's hope in the aftermarket segment

Damn, my dad was really hoping for a Voodoo in the '16/'17 Mach 1
