Hi, I was thinking of replacing the cat with a high flow one from MagnaFlow and running a 2.5 pipe back to one 40 flowmaster muffler.

My question is do I need to change the cat or should I just leave the stock one in?

Does the Y pipe going to 2 mufflers make any improvement over a straight pipe going to a single muffler.

So new cat and pipe going to 2 mufflers? or
New cat and pipe going to one muffler? Or
New pipe going to 2 mufflers


I think a new 2.5 pipe going to a single muffler would be best .

What you think???

what year car?? that will help us figure out the options.
 
Seeing that it starts out as 2 pipes from the engine and then goes into one little ity bitty tiny pipe for the length of the car and then splits back into 2, I would say one 40 series would be just fine.

Skip the whole high flow cat thing. untill you turn it into tru duals with a x over in it your not gonna see no power gains. Have the third cat and resonator pulled also, it will help with the tone.

if you go with one pipe into 2 40 series and you want something that sounds mean, you will be very disapointed.

throw some duals on their with a X in it, have the o2 sensor remounted in the X or go to a shop and have it turned off, then a pair of 40 series on it. That will make people turn and look:D

So one pipe 2.5 inch from the cat back to one 40 series flowmaster. Resonator pulled!
