Expansion valve removal

Courious why the dash has to be remove in order to replace expansion valve ?

Gonna replace the ac system with the expansion valve but I'm gonna go different route instead by removing the intake itself .. that'll give me a chance to look at my plastic parts and more room to remove the three bolts on the expansion valve it's right there exposed out of the firewall ..

You know, that valve is also attached to the evaporator too, right? How are you going to unscrew those two lines from that side?
Look at the replacement valve to understand...

So Your telling me the two recessed bolts are on the back side so stupid ..

I agree. It could have been designed so that it could be removed from the engine side of the firewall, but it wasn't.
