My 03 LS is still under factory warranty. Around a month or so ago, 2 coils packs went bad and they gave my fiancee a loaner. Believe it or not, 2 more coil packs went bad and this time they didn't give her a loaner. Do you know if the Lincoln Factory Warranty addresses Loaner vehicles when being serviced under factory warranty?

How is your '03 still under warranty? Must have been a late build. I have inquired about this before also. It was told to me that FoMoCo allows the Lincoln dealers a certain amount of money each month for rentals due to warranty claims. I have also heard that its up to each individual dealer to manage that allowance. Some dealers use a third party rental (budget, enterprise, etc.) and some just loan out cars from their lot. The Lincoln dealer i have been going to gives free rentals if the repair results in the car being kept overnight. If you car isnt under warranty they still give you $15/day credit towards a rental, they use Enterprise. The owners manual touches on "courtesy cars" but its not too specific.

My dealer, Super in Covina, CA has always got me a loaner if the car is in overnight.

Don't know if there is an allowance that they can use up and then last man is stuck, but so far I have had rentals for something like a total of 5-6 weeks worth of time since 2005, groan.

I think the warranty mileage and time changed with the 2004 models. Previous years had longer warranties than my 2004.

Just my experience,

Jim Henderson

Yes, the warranty expires sometime in April. The car barely has 40k miles and this will make 4 coil packs replaced in a little over a month. I have a 2000 with around 54,000 miles and it has never had any mechanical problems.

I was reading my owners manuel on Wednesday afternoon and it states right in there that it's under lincoln warranty to give a loaner. There aren't any qualifications about overnight or anything. I will look again for page # etc.

The 2003 Owner Benefits guide states that when warranty service is being done, "alternate transportation will be provided for you." "Alternate transporation" can mean several things, including loaner car, shuttle service, or rental car. Now, that said, it may be that no loaners were available when you brought the car in, but they should have put you into a rental at the very least. If you were not offered or provided one of these alternate transportation options, I'd definitely ask about it. For me, this is part of why I chose a Lincoln in the first place. If your dealer gives you lip service, call the Lincoln Customer Service line at 1-800-521-4140.

Also, since you're so close to the end, I'd make darn sure your car is under factory warranty. According to the warranty guide, the warranty start date is the date you take delivery or the first day it is put into service (e.g., as a dealer demonstrator), whichever occurs first. End date is 4 years after the start date or 50K miles, whichever occurs first.

Good Luck.

Depends on the manufacturer. I take my wifes Volvo S60 T-5 (faaaast as hell) in for minor servce and I get a loaner each time. I used to take my 02 V8 into the Lincoln dealer for major repair and I would have to fight to get a loaner.
