So I have lurked the forum long enough, thought it time to post up some pics of the whip... Love the blue color - and love it even more knowing it isn't a common color! Though it does show swirl marks like no ones business... Going to have to pay someone to do a good wet sand and polish to get them all out!

You don't need to wet sand to get swirls out. As a matter of fact, I think wet sanding only belongs on show cars (unless you are a nut like Pete).

Nice LS though, looks like it's in a great shape. I thought it was black at first :p

+1 I though it was black too until you said something, looks real clean though

I believe a simple machine buff will get them off....im gonna do mine soon it has them too.

I also thought that was black. Nice color, nice ride

Thanks for all the love on the ride! I didn't realize that it was such a weird color till I actually got on here. Whoever owned it before me, took really good care of it - when I bought this past may it had 56K on its ticker. For a 2003, that is remarkable... Sure I had to get two coil packs replaced immediately, but they were covered by Ford, so I didn't care.

As far as the wet sanding goes, I think you guys are right... These pics were taken right after a wash and wax, and though I can see every little imperfection - I don't see myself paying the money to get that fixed when there are others places that could use that money (like my roof that I just found out needs replacing...).

Is that a factory color? As boring as it will sound, same here...never seen that color before.

Ditto on NOT wetsanding the car. That's for really bad orange peel paint jobs etc. Shouldn't be that hard to do a real thorough polish/wax if we're talking swirl marks.....

Nice car. Looks clean. I've only seen 2 in that color ever. Is it just me or is your tint turning purple? Looks purplish in the last two photo's. Time for a strip and re-tint?

It is a stock color - just pretty rare... I have seen one other LS in the Kansas City area this color - though the windows arent tinted and it was bring driven by an old lady...
As for the tint, its not turning purple - prolly just the filter I had on the camera and the angle of the light. Thanks for all the compliments on my ride. I will take more this week, when it isn't parked in my driveway - maybe submit one for the LSOTM contest... *shrugs*

Nice ride. I agree with the guy who said wetsanding is only needed to remove orange peel. Unless there are some deeper scratches. But that's just spot sanding. I may know a guy who can get it into top top shape :shifty:

That he does. :D He drove his Mark viii up to me when he first started polishing paint. I showed him a few things, but he took off on his own almost immediately.
