FINALLY HAVE AN LS AGAIN!!! This one comes with a good story, 26k miles, and only $3k

When I play with the torn boots etc, they fall apart, and though it's VERY early, there is still no play in any of the joints. I'm very curious about how this will all play out.(suspension-wise_)

The one passengers side sway bar link looked blown out in the picture. But anyways, according to a few people I've talked to Ford used a craptacular rubber on the OEM boots. The replacement ones are a better rubber that doesn't degrade.

Yep, it seems like neglect is harder on these cars than just driving them. My '68 Fairlane 500 has 38k miles and the rubber on the suspension groaning is the noisiest part of the car.

Mold under the mirrors? Airbag blown?

Looks like possibly wrecked into a creek/stream?

That is quite a bit of rust for a KS car.

Looks like after everything people mentioned above, you are golden.

Never ever, store or park any car over long periods of time on top of grass or weeds.
It will rot out the entire car from the bottom up.

Mold under the mirrors?

I have a friend who lives in a damp climate (coastal northern CA) and has mold/algae grow in the area under the deck lid; between the fender and the weather stripping. They drive that car all over ( 2003 with over 200K miles) so it doesn't sit much. It was parked outside in a shady area.

so let the games begin, first of many (i'm sure) troubleshooting adventures! my first two issues so far are an intermittent engine ticking seemingly consistent with RPM, and a low oil pressure light (yikes) usually consistent with low rpm/idling. no metal shavings on the dipstick but I'm going to change the oil again and we'll see what comes out. i'd be a happy camper if this ticking noise was the belt but it looks ok and i'm not exactly sure how else to diagnose a bad belt. low miles on it, but i can't imagine sitting for years is good for a belt. the ticking has definitely developed into what it is now though, the two problems combined scare me out of driving it. I took some video I'll try to get it posted. thoughts/advice are always welcome!

the car was bumped in the rear and pushed into a truck in front of it, the rust/moldy stuff i'm guessing is from sitting in tall grass. it may make no difference but it's a st louis, mo car.

Ummmmm..... Sounds like low oil level. I wouldn't drive it, or even start the engine, until the oil is changed; and at the proper level.
