I have searched a little bit and wasnt able to find it so maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I currently have 96LSC HID housings on my car, but now that I am getting my new HID setup, I was considering going back to my stock 1st gen housings. My only problem is the reflector behind the bulb is burnt off. What material do people use to rechrome the reflectors on the first gen housings.

BTW if jaime happens to wander in here, what do you charge to redo the housings.

If I get these rechromed I will have a set of MINT 96LSC housings for sale...

Damn it Dan, that right there makes me want another Mark VIII, I always hated the fluted STD headlamps.

Shut up Tom

WTH? You are getting a new HID setup and you want to get RID of your factory HID lenses to revert back to the halogen lenses? Does not compute at all.

The aftermarket HID setup will work perfectly with an easy-to-make adapter with the factory 96 HID lenses. Putting HIDs into a halogen lens gets you worse beam pattern.

Plus they look so much better than the fluted standard lenses like SVO said.

Lol... just figured the light output would be better than the original HIDs in the old housing and use the money from selling the HID housings to possibly get me some more M8 goodies.

I am ordering front and rear sway bars 1 3/8" next week and I have brand new 3.73 gears sitting here on my tool box, but gotta go to the pullapart to grab a 8.8 carrier.

so what would i use to rechrome the lights on my base 94?

Your best bet would be to send them to Jaime to be redone. He does a fantastic job. I've had him do two sets, and they've come back better than new.

HID's in halogen housings put out very good light. Below is a pic but the housings are new. This is low beam only with 8000K bulbs.

i can only say one thing are you crazy, take one step at a time if your keeping your car why sacrified the hid housings man no conprendo.

does it make a difference removing that shield that sits around the dim bulb? when using HID's

Leave the diffuser in. You'll be messing up if you remove it. It's serving a purpose by being there and you will get good light output with it left in, as long as your lenses are clear and you have good chrome backing.

dan, the only cool thing about hid housings is the look factor, i dont care what anyone says because i have done both more times than anyone here, the aftermarket hid's in the factory halogen housings will blow the doors off any factory or aftermarket hid inside the lsc housings. i personaly dont give a rats ass about the hid housings to me all they are is a bunch of hype, yes the clear lenses look good, but the light output blows compared to halogens with hid's. you dont have to take my word for it though, i'm a newb. if you want me to restore a stock set of halogens for you i charge $100 for the pair. it will be the best $100 you'll spend on your mark. put hid's inside them and you'll forget all about those fancy useless hid housings.

Ha! I never knew that. For the longest time, I'd convinced myself that because halogen housings with HID's work great, that HID housings with after-market HID's would be even better.

You would think so but it's not the case. I have seen it with my own eyes and mine put out a lot more light than the HID housing does.

USPS shipping if you use "flat rate" should be around $11.00 and he does the headlights for $100.00.

I have a set I'll sell you right now that he re-done about a year ago for $90.00 to your door. If you installed a 6000K HID kit in, you would be more than happy with the light output. I only bought new housings because they're getting rare and the price is slowly climbing on them. Also, the grille is new so little by little, I'm getting all new front end parts for it. Below are the housings I took out. This was before the new grille install.

Ya... kinda figured the 96LSC housings are a little overrated... thats my opinion, however I have had 96LSC housings in both of my first gens. Those LSC housings can score some big money too... My biggest pet peeve with them is that they don't match the corner lights. Fluted vs Clear lenses.

I've been having thoughts of ditching my HID housings as well... but I can't go back to regular halogens. I'm thinking of cutting the lenses off my spare crappy halogen housings and trying to heat form or possibly vacuum form new clear lenses. Anyone know how the small bumpy texture stuff on the lenses affects the light pattern? I don't want a screwey pattern.

Nolimit (or anyone else with aftermarket HIDs in halogen housings) can you get a pic of what your light pattern looks like up against a wall or garage door or something? Probably at about 10-15ft from the wall would be the best to judge what the pattern and cutoff looks like..

I can get you one but you're looking at a lot of work. I would get you that tonight but right now it's storming real bad where I live and tornado watches and all that good stuff is going on. I do have a pattern pic right below the front of the car. Got it while I was in a parking lot aiming the new housings but I still don't have them right. The drivers side is perfect but the pass side is still up too high.

This one is when I was facing a glass front empty building.

Thanks for those pics. I think a pic with the lights aimed at a wall would be quite helpful. It's not like I need it by tomorrow or anything so whenever you have nice weather and an extra couple minutes I'd definitely appreciate it.

Even with 9005s in them the LSC housings throw down a great pattern and have a pretty well defined, smooth cutoff...

Maybe I will try throwing one of my old halogen housings in with a 9005 HID and see if I like it, but then again the toasted reflectors are going to screw with it... might just have to rechrome it and go from there..
