Hello--

My name is mike im from central jersey. i purchased a 2005 LS this week so far so good very happy with it. plan on doing a couple of mods, however i am not too familiar with the vehicle. ive been researching a little online and i have some questions in the HID category.

-will i need a relay harness?
-if i want to install yellow bulbs in the fogs would u recommend hids?

Thank you.. appreiciate the patience

Welcome to lvc.
You don't NEED a relay. I don't have a relay on any of the cars I put hids in. My LS (gen 1) only gives headlight codes when a scanner is hooked up to it, but that was using an expensive snap on scanner

Yellow hids should work fine. That was my original plan couple years ago, but they sent me green...

Post up pics!!!

Like he said no relay is needed but I would recommend some in-line capacitors. Also yellow bulbs are better if HID because they are bright Nd also don't give the yellow look in the light housing when off. I would suggest 5000k/6000k in your low beams and 3000k in your fogs looks really nice. If you have anymore questions feel free to message me. If you need pics just ask and I'll take some for you of my setup.

thanks for the quick replys..

where can i find these capacitors? also, are there any sites you guys recommend for hids....

Happy Holidays!

good stuff... you think the average citzien could do this install... ik some model cars are more difficult than others

dnyce, you took out all your tint?

Yea, all but the w/s lol. Too many repair orders by county cops. City cops didnt bother me for it, just these county cops...

I dont see why i can have the shades down on my house, but i cant have "shades" on my car lol (i do know why, but still)

Megahertz, yes its easy enough to do. Three bolts for the headlight come out (gen one use an 8mm socket). Take out the bulb. Plug and play the hid kit. Mount the ballast somewhere where it will not move all around

Thanks for all the help… i am ordering the the low beam kit off amazon.. looking for a fog kit still… ill keep u updated when i get em and upload some pics after the install!!

not all hid systems are the same, some might need a relay, a lot dont. its definitely not a for sure thing to say that it wont need one period.

Amazon.com: XenTec Slim Ballast HID Kit H11 6000K (ultrawhite): Automotive
yep. that's what i'm referring to.

To the OP, welcome!

Because your car is on a public highway.

:shifty:

I know officers want to be able to see you/what you're doing in your car. But honestly if they are that curious, pull me over and check me out.

I have been profiled for my modded LS multiple times, and I often get searched. I do not mind this at all. I understand their concern and I want them to get to know me and see that I am a good guy.

There should not be any requirement to see inside a vehicle at anytime for no reason. If you really have a suspicion about a driver or item in a specific vehicle, then pull it over and take a gander.

The only ticket I've ever received is for tint, and it was by an officer who didn't even know the current tint laws. He just knew it was darker than "legal".
