Please excuse me I'm not sure what to call it... I guess it's upholstery, but the stuff on the roof of my 95' Mark VIII is peeling off and sagging... Can I fix this myself and if so how? Also when I get the car washed water comes in through the sunroof and there is water damage to the roof (reason why it is peeling off obviously...) Is there a cheap fix to this?
I want to fix my Mark up and I plan on keeping it as my "fun" car for a very long time. I want to eventually get into modding it, but before that I need to get everything working well and get rid of the damn rough idle, and get it looking nice.
This summer I plan on doing a lot to the Mark as I will have a lot more time. First off I am going to work on getting rid of the rough idle, I have already gone through a few things.
Last year it dropped a 4 valves, got em fixed, was better for a short while, then it progressively came back. Replaced plugs and wires, all motorcraft. New 02 sensor (had check engine light, codes showed 02 sensor) Still idles rough... I've heard cleaning the EGR passage may help, I plan on doing that soon. Could it be my injectors if they have never been changed in 11 years and 86k miles?
Also I took the car to a shady mechanic to have some work done cheap (bad idea) he forgot to put my keyless entry panel back in the friggin door and I didn't notice it. He also got greasy dark stuff all over the drivers side door panel and steering wheel. I have yet to find anything that will get it off especially with the crevices in the material the panel is made of (you know what I'm talking about) You guys know of anything that will clean it off?
So far I have done the things above to the car, + a HO alt. because I have a subwoofer in the trunk, which the voltage reg on broke and popped my brights, possibly damaging the cpu? but it seems to work well still, jw if that could have anything do with the rough idle. Just recently got the alt back from being fixed (was under warranty) and need to get it back in. Also got a new radiator, new oil pan, new tranny lines, coolant lines, yellowtop batt... hmm I think that's about it.
So any help with the above questions would be appreciated, sorry about the long post. Thanks.
