Do you guys think this is a cool mod or should it be left to imports? My buddy has it on his Volvo S40 I think it looks pretty good, just kinda an inexpensive exterior mod.

What are you talking about?

yeah it looks cool but i can think alot of other things that are much better to put my money towards. Also u have a system uf u do this itll rattle the $hit out of your trunk, and when are u going to use it or show it to people, unless u go to alot of car shows.

i was thinkin about it.. but i rather put a tv on my top deck lid.. i go to a car show monthly almost.. so i might to it temporarily

Bill, it's like a $20 mod and you can make so it doesn't rattle I will probably do mine this weekend. Also since I got rid of my system the rattling won't be an issue for me. Also any ideas on the reverse open hood? I just think these are neat mods that are easy for a DIYselfer.

ahh i c. i was thinking of the suicide trunk lid where it folds up. my bad. yeah if u do it post how to. id like to do the hood. that would be tight. like a corvettes hood.

Maybe I am wrong but the problem I have always seen with "flip-top" trunks is if it is raining. If you opened the trunk wouldn't the water come rushing in from the lid?

Typically, it is a feature that you do when showing it or similar. It doesn't open that way until you release it to flip down.

Very true...There is a hinge point that you release and it allows it to flip level. If you don't release the hinge it opens normally.

There not the best mod on any car i think i think they do look pretty sweet but i mean i wouldn't buy one to mod i would rather buy a see through hood or a hood that split's would be much better just some suggestions there

Alright now im not being mean or anything or trying to be but i just looked at your pic gallery and things you should work on first are your dash its stock seriously like get it re painted or something and your system looks so old skool u like even if u got one kicker would be better then what you got in there now other then that looks like one nice ride especially the RiMs what company are they?

No worries all opinions are helpful. As for the system, I don't have it anymore I am upgrading to a double din unit some time in the near future. As for the dash, in the first pic it shows the manual gear shift and the carbon fiber overlay kit. I had that on there for awhile but I have since gone back to the oem woodgrain. I have concidered having it painted to match, but I'm not sure its enough bang for the buck. As for the wheels they are FOOSE Speedsters. Thanks for the ideas though.

What purpose does it serve? Not on any of my cars!!! Waste of time and money! Thats my opinion!

It seriously only costs like $20.00 its not gonna break my bank to do it....:D

if ur going to get the double din.. i can sell u one JUST like mine for 900 shipped maybe including the wiring harness..

as far as the flip trunk.. its cool.. its a regular hinge that is REALLY easy to installd but the problem is that the LS has a carpet that covers the hinge. Are you planning on cutting the top trunk panel? If you decide to cut it the size of the actual arm and paste it on to it to not show it.. how would u go about flipping down the trunk up and down from its stock position.. ima take a look at it today..

i was thinkin about it.. maybe u can cut the cover on both sides.. then put double sided tape on the rail to make sure the cover stays on the rail.. and make sure u dont cut the middle part so that it stays OEM.. and i think that would solve that coverproblem.. i would cut mine off but i have leather all over my trunk

In the article that Ken mentions, it says that the cost of doing this conversion is $8. After seeing the great job that Keith did on his Vivid LS, I believe that most of us could do it easily and most likely with hinges that we all have in our own stash of parts at home. I did notice that Keith added a cable system to his that took the tension off the trunk when in the flip-flop position that I thought was ingenious. If he wants to share his work with you, then he will post closeups, but you really don't need them. Just use your brains and common sense. It's a hinge; attach it. That's all there is to it.

i beleive i wrote an article on how to do this for like 15 dollars.. id really depends on the color of ur car cause if its silver birch for example, u dont need to use touch up paint.. but on my black one i did have to

show me a picture of the arm.. both arms are inside on the LS.. i dont know what u mean..
