Foamy tan coolant

Not on topic, but I would like to say thanks for searching.

OMG I have the same exact problem with this 04 I purchased. Sorry if this is a dead thread but please if OP can chime in that would be fantastic!

I had the same problem... It is the oil cooler. Someone probably tweaked the inlet or outlet tube at some point and that caused a breach between the coolant passage and the oil passage... and since your oil pressure is higher than your water pressure; you likely only have the leak going one way (for now).

I found a donor car at a junk yard that had clean fluids come out of it; so I fugure it is fine... that and I pressure tested it.

The oil goop sucks. it sticks to everything and is difficult to clean out of the degas bottle. I have spoke with a couple of people who have put a bit of dawn dish soap in their coolant resovoir and cycled water through several times with decent results.

Good luck!

If you did bypass the oil cooler, you at least need to flush the old oil loop out then plug it off with a couple of bolts. That tube is obviously damaged, and will be exposed to heat and pressure cycles. That means the damage is going to get larger. Eventually it will open enough to leak antifreeze. If nothing else, such hairline cracks in other parts of the cooling system is enough to suck air into the cooling system and we all know how that turns out. Best thing would be to replace the radiator, but if not that then you really need to at least plug the oil cooler tube with bolts coated with silicone.

I think there is some misunderstanding here...
There is no cooler in the LS radiator. The cooler for the transmission, power steering, and hydraulic fan (gen I only) is in front of the radiator and there is no way for fluid from it to mix with coolant as there is a really big air gap between the two. Look at your LS. There are no cooler connections going into the radiator.
The V8 sport does have an engine oil to water cooler, and failure of this is what the thread is talking about. The cooler is between the oil filter and the adapter to the engine. The lower radiator hose has to smaller hoses off of it that run to the cooler. If you don't want to replace the cooler, then bypassing it is as simple as removing it and changing the lower radiator hose to the one used on the non-sport (since it doesn't have the two hose connections to go to the cooler.)

The engine oil cooler (the only cooler that could mix oil with coolant if it fails): http://deneau.info/ls/s6x~us~en~file=s6x31025.htm~gen~ref.htm
The transmission and other hydraulic cooler (no way to mix fluid and coolant): http://deneau.info/ls/s6x~us~en~file=s6x72006.htm~gen~ref.htm

I would insert here that this is only true when the engine is running. When you shut it off,the coolant is STILL at 16 psi if hot and the oil pressure drops off usually to just a few pounds or even zero. Then your antifreeze can spray into the oil.
don-ohio :)^)

Oh crap, that's right, the LS takes the coolant to the oil instead of sending the oil to the coolant like everyone else does. I was thinking he had a leak in the coil inside the rad that other cars use. Sorry, disregard.
