Forget the MKC... Lincoln Bring Back the LSE

I think there is a spot for a $50k RWD Lincoln Sports car. But they need to revamp their lineup first. In the end, not too many people who say on online that's what they want, end up buying the "halo" car. It might draw people in to the brand, but they need better volume sellers. I like the approach they are taking, even it means nothing too exciting for another 3-4 years. The MKZ is definitely growing on me, I especially love the rear end.

I want one of these: :D

Is this a fact? I believe it.

I have my mind set on a CTS-V sedan for my next vehicle at the moment. I was able to look inside at the interior of a CTS a few weeks ago and just fell in love.

My LS will never be forgotten tho. Would definately own one again, when I can say "i'll add it to my collection."

I've been looking at them too since they introduce it with 556hp back in 09 I think it was. I mean think about it, I wouldn't do a thing to it but tint windows and drive. I know they have some dam good tuning option out there such as D3 and Hennessy but that's for the people who has money to burn. I found a black one in texas with two tone leather for like high 30's.

Lincoln producing a rear wheel drive of any sort to compete with the germans will only result in a price tag of $50,000-$60,000. At the point, nobody is going to pay that money for a Lincoln.

Your right, even I have a hard time venturing into the $40's but thats close to the limit for the right car for me.... either way the car I photoshoped goes into the upper $80k's, GTR territory.... and I agree, there's plenty who say they want the halo but in the end don't bite for whatever reason, but the "Halo" is only there to stir the pot, bring big time attention to the brand, we are desperately missing our Halo.

Although, Lincoln had the formula right with the LS... small, cheap rwd sedan in 3 series territory... that is fun to drive, Lincoln needs to find that formula again, I'm sure there's more than enough people out there that would bite

Come to think of it a 06' ish V-10 M5 could be had for around the 30k mark.... but now maintenance, repairs, insurance and reliability become a question....but what I would give to own one of those however....

The MKZ Autoblog tested was $49,XXX, which is a lot for that car. While, for the money, Lincoln has always offered significantly more than other luxury car brands, but it all means nothing if it doesn't have a soul of a true sports sedan.
And, what you said is very true about the LS. Even Autoblog agrees.......here is Autoblog's last few words when they reviewed the new MKZ...

"Lincoln doesn't want anyone to think of its newest offering as a redesigned Ford Fusion with boosted luxury appointments and a $15,000 price premium, but the reality remains hard to ignore. A sinking feeling in our stomachs tells us this MKZ is still not distinct enough to buoy the luxury brand. In fact, the whole experience left us wondering... what would the underappreciated rear-wheel-drive Lincoln LS have matured into today had it been celebrating its 13th year of production?

E60 M5 is an amazing vehicle, just get warranty through BMW bumper to bumper and that car will keep you elated.

actually i dunno. but what else is there? domestic wise, no one else builds performance luxury.

Ford isn't fielding anything with Lincoln. the ecoboost models have some punch, but FWD based AWD is not a drivers car.

Chrysler/Dodge? nope... the 300 looks kinda cool, but isn't performance.

GM has Cadillac building cool stuff. the CTS-V is a powerhouse, and looks great doing it.

The 300 SRT8 would qualify. I saw one here beat a vette in a street race.

I saw the new MKZ in person a couple of weeks ago at a car show. While I wasn't sure if I liked it from the pictures it looked a lot better in person. Even if the taillights look a little "dodgy" it was one of the best looking cars there. The MKC concept also looks a little funky in pictures, but if sales of vehicles like the Evoque are any indicator that's what buyers want in small SUV's.

However, I still think Lincoln needs to focus more on performance. Luxury brands are seeking younger buyers, and one of the best ways to attract them is with performance, or at least the appearance of performance. Even Mercedes and Lexus, who used to be more luxury and technology oriented, have been focusing on performance (e.g. any of the commercials for the new C-Class). The market's changed, and Lincoln will need to change with it if it expects to thrive.

More comparable to the 5 series.

In a straight line maybe. But they cant handle very well at all. Too damn big. CTS-V is the complete package. Handling, power, luxury. 300 has some luxury and power.

Just got back from the Detroit Auto Show, the MKC was stunning in person.

There are a bunch of falling Lincoln stars imprinted in the interior doors, pretty damn cool. You can't see them in the pictures.
