Found some pretty cool stuff with Forscan

I see in the forescan forum somebody was able to calibrate Advancetrac and make the light go out..

Not much info on how or where in the program.

anybody tried it ?

i would be very interested in this as my advancetrac light constantly blinds me.

^ I'm not very good at jokes but I do believe this is one!

Is it true that 'forscan' is a synonym for uncircumcised?

Dear, look what I found using Forscan !!! ... I was able to adjust some settings.

Lol i miss these forums, makes me feel bad the LS is sitting for sale. Speaking of the advacetrak, I was able to get my light to stop blinking by reading the module and erasing the codes. Viola and my advance track works. It's a heck of a system and feels good in the rain. Man the LS will forever be a part of my memory once it's gone. Btw, I was able to do a complete brake flush by using forscan.

How so? I haven't really looked because the list of things is a little expansive and I seem to always be preoccupied with something else with the car

I was able to control the abs module and proceed with the flush. It allows me to flush the old brake fluid residing in the module itself. I'll post up a video once i return home and classes are finished.

i would be quite interested and eternally grateful for any help in getting this light out on my dash.

I have the code C1998,,the scanner said advanetrac calibration.

i am to cheap to bring it to a dealer and spend $100+ to have them do it :)

i don't have a scanner capable of reading these faults. my AT light is on constantly, and of course the display says to check advancetrac. fortunately enough, it doesn't fail the state inspection. no abs, srs, or check engine lights are on. no stored codes on these. with the age of these cars; i should say the intrinsic value being what it is, i try to get by w/as economical repair as possible. that being said, the knowledge and self-satisfaction of a repair successfully completed w/o a dealer input is priceless.

It could be a calibration issue, but unless it has been worked on, it is more likely to be the steering wheel angle sensor (could also be the yaw sensor). In any event, you'd need a scan tool that could not only read the fault codes, but could also trigger the calibrate procedure. Mine can do that, but Forscan would be a lot cheaper if it could do it.

yeah, i was hoping an ELM327 bluetooth w/Forscan software somehow; my chops w/this kinda thing is virtually non-existant. but i'm always willing to learn. fixing the car is somehow more important to me than driving the car. it's probably an OCD thing, lol.

Stay tuned guys, Finals are almost done. I should be heading home on Monday. I'll be returning with answers and hopefully solutions to your questions. Heck I don't even mind playing with some controls available in Forscan for your pleasure :D

Any other things you guys would like to see done with the software before attempting it on your car, let me know and I'll try it first.

Looking forward to it !

Went to look at a car today.

asked about CEL,, " nope,no light".

can i hook up my scanner ?

guy kinda looks funny as i have my tablet and blue tooth adapter in my hand and says "sure"..

start forscan and,,

i'm surprised at not a single code ?

then i see " drive cycle not completed,,,,,,etc "

guess unhooking the battery is a fine way for a used car salesman to turn off the check engine light :)

It's an annoyingly common practice. I've passed on some that I might otherwise not have. If I knew what it was complaining about, I could decide if it was probably something cheap to fix or not, but since they erased the codes, I didn't want to take a chance on it.

I still remember this from years ago (before OBDII). I went to test drive a car that was parked on an empty lot near a gas station. I looked it over before the guy got there. When he did, he said "I hope it starts, it's been sitting here about a month." The engine was warm already. After the test drive, I walked over to the gas station and asked the clerk about it. He said the guy was there a couple of hours before me and had started it up and put a can of Freon in the AC.

So you didn't get the car and he got a black eye instead. LOL Joe you just about described 90% of the used car lot managers. It's all about the greed and money, screw the consumer and separate them from their money. They get away with it easily all day every day.

yesterday i went looking for my adapter to show somebody..

remembered,i forgot it in the car i checked !!!

ordered another ,,be here Monday ,to my door.. :)

Yep. All the videos should be up in a few days.

A " few " days ??

how many days is a " FEW " !! ???

is it more than a " couple " days ??

less that a " 1/2 dozen " ?

or between a 1/2 dozen and a full dozen ??

remember we need the advancetrac calibration to make the light go out ,,

and,,

door keypad code re-trivial..

anything less will NOT be acceptable !!

but i suppose,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,anything would be better than nothing :)
