Front Ball Joints Going...

Has anyone done the front ball joints? I was told I need to order the whole Lower Control Arm, because the Ball Joint is pressed in, and than I was told they are attached to the spindle? has anyone dealt with this? how labor intensive is it to replace? any info would be great. BTW It is an 02 V6 Manual. With 102k on it.

Ball joints

That is true that the ball joint is part of the knuckle. You can find them about 215$ each if you google ford parts.

They are easy to remove. Jack up the car until the tire hangs. Remove the tire, rotor and it bolts off /on with a few bolts. You have to unbolt it from the upper, and lower control arms. Prolly need an alighnment afterwards. Goodluck.

I picked up a spindle from the Junker yesterday with 20k on it for $75 as opposed to fords "updated" pieces that run almost 6x that.

I finally got around to installing the spindle, It was simple with regular hand tools a Jack and some Jack Stands. Took about 1.5 hours. Def. not worth going to the dealer for.
