Frustrated urgent

01 ls v8 ran fine this morning this afternoon started then died engine smooth under hood exhaust loud blows white smoke when gas applied when goes to idle chugs and black smoke from drop battery light on and dies please help catalytic converter?

Have you had any problems at all before now?
You can (and I think will) rule out the catalytic converters being plugged by removing the two forward O2 sensors. That would give any exhaust back pressure a route to escape (the holes where the O2 sensors used to be).

No other problems at all ran excellent this morning

Yeah, it was the other problems that can lead to this that I was concerned about.

Jumped time, stuck injector, warped head (very rare), ...
