Today the fuel pump on my 96 mark went out. I priced a new one and the quoted me $301. Now,i remember running across a post about the same or another pump, that fit a different model of Ford product that also would work on the mark 8,but it cost less. Can anyone tell me what kind of car,or cars this was? I mean it does make a lot more sense if you can get the same part or something that works for less money, right?

Thanks

Ok,i found the post. And from what it was saying Ford part # 3S4Z-9H307-BC,which fits the Focus SVT will work in the mark, and its only $131 bucks. And from what they were saying in the post,it will work on a Gen 1 mark.

Just get a Walbro 190 or 255 pump for your gen1. 100 bucks says that TRE pump is the china knock off walbro pump.

all you have to do to make it work is reverse the polarity... try searching more

Got screwed...I would've done it for $75 labor :p...and it wouldve taken maybe 15 minutes

Wait, wait... sorry... I forgot to mention, they got the sunroof working for me again, the 2 seat tracks, injected refrigerant in the compressor & they fixed an exhaust leak. I couldn't ask for a better price. Granted, all I wanted them to do was install the pump but they did all of that because they knew the story about the car. It's the blue car I had sitting for 3 months when I purchased it from the guy that had it sitting for 10 years!

You still got screwed. Sapperfire and Laser would have rebuilt your engine and powder coated the valve covers and intake for that price;)

Ok,i have new developments in the fuel pump saga! First off the new pump autozne part # E2386,isnt the same. The pump is a little smaller round, and it has two separate prongs as opposed to the two prong single plug on the old pump. Now they did list a part # E2326 crossed referenced to the same part #. But i did"t have the old pump with me for comparison.

But here's the real problem...I took the old pump out,and to make sure it was the pump that was bad...I hooked it to the battery for a second...And it ran! So,now im thinking its not the pump. By the way,the old pump has walbro on it,so someone replaced it before. Unless Ford used them, lol. Now what i need to to know in a hurry...Where is the first place i need to look for this problem? The pump still doesnt run with the key on. Which one of those relays in the box under the hood is the pump relay, and whats that diode for in that fuse box under the hood, and does it have anything to do with this? I don't have an owners manual for a fuse and relay location map. Im trying to get this thing buttoned back up and make it to work on time. Any and all quick help is appreciated,Thanks.

ok.
the pump wont always run with the key on, only for about 2-3 seconds after the key is turned on. then it will shut off until you start the car.
next, check for power at the fuel pump wiring, while someone cycles the key. remember, car not running, the pump will not be on. the fuel pump will "prime' when you turn on the key.

if youre standing at the hood, its the 4th relay towards the windshield, or next to last (however you want to word it)

i always swap it with the horn relay, then try to beep the horn

[BOk,i turned the key on. No prime,no noise. I would've heard it...i still have the assembly out of the tank. The old pump does work...i hooked it directly to the battery for a second and it ran. So im thinking that no power is getting to the pump. What relays, and or fuses am i looking for under the hood? Or anything else that would control this.[/B]

Ok,i swapped the pump relay with the horn relay. The horn still works off of the swapped relay. What else am i looking for? Fuses??

... turn steering wheel full left turn, pull fender liner back, remove fuel filter upper hose ( from filter to engine) turn key on/off a few times, go inspect

or just give me a call on my cell

FPDM.

Located on the passenger side in the trunk.

Install a jumper between the white wire and the pink/black wire.
Install another jumper between the brown/white wire and the black one.

If the car works then replace the FPDM.

Fairly sure its 96 specific but the first gen owners on here should know for sure.

Have you checked to see if your crash inertia switch is not tripped, shutting off your fuel pump? Thats the first thing to check.

The fuel inertia switch was not tripped. I did see a module on the passenger side mounted on the brace in the trunk near where the deck lid hinges are. This was a two plug module, but i didn't see any of the color coded wires described, coming from the module. So am i looking in the right place or is it somewhere else, and a different module.

i need a better photo of your module and wires, the one you sent me was pretty blurry..from there i can cross refference your wire schematic colors
