Had a Question on the garage door openers in the visor of my 02 LS. If i press the button it flashes orange so i know it works. Anyone know how to program it to your own garage door? i dun wanan clip my ugly arse garage door opener to my visor. I checked through the online 02 owners manual (i didnt get one with my car) and didnt see anything off hand in the table of contents about garage door openers so, I thought someone here might possibly know. Thanks

The programming is available at the HomeLink site, http://www.homelink.com and is also available in the manual.

If you have a rolling code garage door opener you'll need to turn it off on the garage door unit to do the programming like i did, works perfectly after, then turn the feature back on.

Rolling code eh? not sure i know what that is, but i went to the site and it looks pretty easy. thank you

yes. it should hold true for all Homelinks. I even bought a visor with Homelink in it off of a Nissan so I could cut it out and mount it on my kid's Gixxer. Works the same.

Most newer garage door openers roll the codes it sends to the door, like car alarms. This way no one can sit down the road and capture door opener codes and open garages while people are away. The problem is that is exactly what the Homelink system does, captures the code so it can operate your door.

If your garage door has the rolling codes, you can turn it off, program the Homelink unit and flip the rolling codes back on and it will still work preset for your type of garage door.

Okay. This is beyond f'ing aggravating to be befuddled by such a stupid device.
I have held down the two outer buttons, slow then fast blinking. ok. things reset.
Took my wifes nifty garage door opener - she hit the learn button on the Genie Garage door opener - I held down the visor button and the garage door opener at the same time. Slow , then fast - we repeated this two more times - and the stupid thing is still not set to my LS. We repeated the steps - and the GD garage door opener on the garage ceiling snap crackled and POPPED and proceeded to smoke profusely - i just unplugged it. And came in here to type this out.

The Genie is from 09 the car is from 03 and apparently something is amiss - any ideas??

Well, I can't help you with the smoked opener, but I can correct your learn procedure.
she hit the learn button on the Genie Garage door opener - I held down the visor button and the garage door opener at the same time.
You are trying to do two steps at once. This almost certainly won't work.
Step A: Hold down the visor button and the garage door opener button.
Wait till that step completes. Now don't touch the opener remote any more.
Step B: Hit the learn button on the Genie, then press the button on the visor.

Step A tells the visor what frequency and what code system that your garage door uses.
Step B tells your garage door that it's okay to accept commands from your visor (it has a different root security key).

From your owner's manual:

1. Press and hold the two outside
buttons releasing only when the red
light begins to flash after 20
seconds. Do not repeat step one to
program additional hand-held
transmitters to the remaining two
HomeLink buttons. This will erase
previously programmed hand-held
transmitter signals into HomeLink.

2. Position the end of your
hand-held transmitter 2–8 cm (1–3 inches) away from the HomeLink
button you wish to program (located on your visor) while keeping the
red light in view.

3. Simultaneously press and hold
both the HomeLink and hand-held
transmitter button. Do not release
the buttons until step 4 has been
completed.

4. The red light will flash slowly and then rapidly. Release both buttons
when the red light flashes rapidly. (The rapid flashing light indicates
acceptance of the hand-held transmitters’ radio frequency signals.)

5. Press and hold the just-trained HomeLink button and observe the red
light. If the light is a constant red, programming is complete and your
device should activate when the HomeLink button is pressed and
released. Note: To program the remaining two HomeLink buttons,
begin with step 2 in the “Programming” section — do not repeat step 1.
Note: If the red light blinks rapidly for two seconds and then turns to a
continuous red, proceed with steps 6 through 8 to complete
programming of a rolling code equipped device.

6. At the garage door opener receiver (motor-head unit) in the garage,
locate the “learn” or “smart” button (usually near where the hanging
antenna wire is attached to the unit).

7. Press and release the “learn” or “smart” button. (The name and color
of the button may vary by manufacturer.)
Note: There are 30 seconds in which to initiate step eight.

8. Return to the vehicle and firmly press, hold for two seconds and
release the HomeLink button. Repeat the press/hold/release sequence
again, and, depending on the brand of the garage door opener (or other
rolling code equipped device), repeat this sequence a third time to
complete the programming.
HomeLink should now activate your rolling code equipped device. To
program additional HomeLink buttons begin with step 2 in the
“Programming” section. For questions or comments, please contact
HomeLink at www.homelink.com or 1–800–355–3515.

^ true story.

I had trouble getting my Homelink to work with my Genie.

all I had to do to fix the problem was to program the visor to the opener.

I was only programming the openers remote to the Homelink
