gas for the LS!!

I am in no way backing UGLYLS claim about how cheap gas doesn't matter, and high compression, and blah blah blah.

BUT what I will comment on is how some (high post count) members on this forum deem it necessary to act like belittling bullies any time someone with little knowledge on a subject poses a question or states a claim. Me being a n00b here I have experienced this a few times already...one time about something as insignificant as aquiring bumper chrome trim.

I personally come here to absorb information on the intricacies of the LS so I can become more aware of potential problems I may run into in the future....and so far I have learned a lot in the month I've been here.
But some of you people are doing more harm than good with your grade school comments and trolling. Yes we get it, you have been on this site since 2004 or 2006, you know everything about the LS, this site is your home page, you've been a ASE certified douchebag for many years now.....some of us aren't. I don't know a camshaft from a sway bar (which is the reason I'm here) so cut us "morons" and "idiots" a little slack.

Learn from ALAX, he (pretty sure he is a he) has been great example of what this site is all about.

I think members get annoyed because almost every noob question can simply be found by putting your question into google. Or better yet the search function on this website. Everything on the LS has been covered time and time again and most of the novice users here have seen TONs of people pass thru here looking for the easy way out.

I'm just saying. Do your research if you want to find out something before you post on here. Because I guaranty you 30 people before you haven't done so. If you don't want to feel like you've been attacked. Then use common sense and I'm pretty confident you won't have any "belittling bully" problems.

I believe my initial post to this thread was not bullying or condescending. I offered two viewpoints, the "fiscal conservative" viewpoint, and the mechanic viewpoint.

LoudLS chimed in with a nice sarcastic response which I didn't think was all that harsh really. I guess if you are overly sensitive you could take it wrong. But if you are, you don't need to be on an internet forum anyways.

And if you do go on an internet forum, don't ask a question, then come back saying that we are all over exaggerating and drinking the kool-aid because daddy said so. If you knew the answer to the damn question then DONT ASK IT! If you are unable to handle criticism of your question then DONT ASK IT! If you are going to refuse to believe any other answers despite any explanation given then DONT ASK IT!

And if someone does rub you the wrong way, respond to THAT PERSON in the thread. Don't piss all over everyone else. Most people don't mind sharing what they know, they just don't like people too lazy to learn or who don't look on their own first. If UglyLS had responded to just LoudLS and said he was just trying to learn, I bet the thread would have been completely different.

And finally, if you do manage to piss over everyone in a thread, just leave it alone and you won't get butt hurt. Some of us can get extremely bored at times and might not have anything better to do at the moment :p

Good luck...they go for over $100K last time i checked.

Yeah, they are in the $160K range currently. But I will still be owning one eventually. Probably a good 5 years off of that mark though. :)

well i'm not going to just stand by when somebody give out extremely bad and possibly dangerous advice, especially after being told that im am exaggerating the facts

alex also spends all the time in the world searching for his answers, long before ever posting a question on a topic that has many threads covering it

exactly, spoonfeeding is for the birds.

now if the op was to ask WHY it is important to use higher octane fuel, we could have gave plenty of knowledge as to why, but some jackwagon that clearly doesnt know what he is talking about, should not be giving out any advice, because the OP is not knowledgeable enough to know the difference from good or bad advice.

thats pretty much how it works

Thank you sir, and yeah I'm a dude. :D

Thanks you too sir. ;). I actually do still search through lvc looking for older threads with good info on them.

Well I usually don't bash on the noobs, cause I was a noob once. But I do remember one week where three new guys posted the exact same question right after each other. They just had to look at 2 or 3 threads below theirs to get the answer, but they didn't, things like that get to the more experienced guys out there, almost got to me too, but I just ignored the threads, didn't even open them.

A lot of noobs also come and get spoon fed and never come back, this hurts the veterans feeling so they lash out on future noobs :shifty:, maybe not.

This is an online community and a lot of guys come on here to learn, get distracted for a bit, have a good time, and the occasional noob lynching. Don't feel too bad if you get picked on a little, it's nothing personal, just like when seniors pick on freshman in high school, or at least they tell you they will days before your first day, I never did get picked on though. Just be thankful Frog or missing_Linc aren't around that much anymore, mean to noobs but funny guys.

Damn, I just read the first page of this thread, you guys gave it to him good, feel kinda bad for the guy.

I know plenty of people that have thirty years of experience, and have been wrong for all thirty of them.
.

 my dad's cousin, just throws parts at the car hoping he gets it fixed.

IMHO, it wasn't the noob part it was the misinformation that could cause damage to someone's LS. Personally, I don't respond (maybe with a "search" response) any more to questions that have been asked a thousand times (what tires, wheels, gas, do I really need to do _____, etc.). It is boring and old.

i just feel that if somebody cant put in the time to at least search for the answer, then they don't deserve to be given any answers.

this website is an invaluable resource, i'm here to help, but im not here to spoonfeed people that are just lazy to help themselves.

now on the other hand, i have no tolerance for mis-information givers, especially when they dont understand whats going on, and even more so when the info giving is potentially dangerous, as mentioned before, true greenhorns probably wouldn't know the difference between good and bad advice. those people will be dealt with swiftly, and more often that not, if their only back up to what they are saying is "well that is what i was told" then the responses might be harsh as well

UglyLS was GIVING bad advice which could harm someone else's car. We are doing our jobs as senior members to set the record straight and protect the best interests of the OP. Everyone is free to be a dumbass. If one happens to be a dumbass, they should not try to impart advice and wisdom on this or any topic.

EDIT: Guess I should read all the way through before posting. Looks like 1LoudLS and LS4Me already stated what I was trying to.

just FYI...i do only run premium gas and do run syn oil...i didn't realize i struck such a nerve hahaha but it was entertaining reading!!!!

You didn't strike a nerve so much as UglyLS did. I saw a few places where it seemed like he was referred to as the OP instead of you.

Yeah no disrespect intended to the OP. Just people giving out false information on how to treat their LS.

So much win! Glad ya'll seem to be taking care of everything around here, makes my job a lot easier lol

ohhhh now the most diabolical player hater this side of the Mississippi decides to show up

for the record, i never tried to yell at the OP, just threw out a smart @ss comment, ulgyls was the recipient of everything else

ive gotten bash a lil bit from these guys for posting a thread witch was already covered and what have you but you get over it and

sure as :q:q:q:q I make a thread askin for help doin custom work on my car and these guys were still there to help its just the internet and they are in no way attacking anybody personally just the stupid questions, or stupid fake facts
