I'm getting about 15 - 16 now after getting the coils fixed. I still have a lot of work to do that may increase that even more.

normal driving about 34 miles every day of the week

its the highest ive ever seen it..... and i need an oil change and new filter
its usually around 15-17

Yep, I have a 2003 V8 with a K&N CAI and @ 70 mph on Hwy I get 28.2 miles per gallon. Before I put the K&N on it, I was getting 26.5 mpg.
City 16-18 miles per gallon.

Yep, same here. These LS's are definitely road cars. They hate the stop and go and it shows in the mileage. The tranny really goes through those first 3 gears pretty fast and fuel flow follows. My concern with the original post is: 4 miles to work? Wow, that is the worst service for the oil and exhaust. The oil isn't up to temperature long enough to "boil" water or moisture out so the pH will be on the nasty (acid) side. (At least that is the excuse I use to make a long trip.) Please change your oil very frequently. Your exhaust will also take a beating at the same time; expect rust to form sooner than it should. You should change your tranny fluid every year at least. The owners manual will spell this out. I had to learn these mistakes the hard way. Sorry to lecture but these are great cars.
