Gas Mileage

I was averaging 22-24 mpg, until I did my gas pedal mod and my Max Microtuner.... the tune would probably improve my mpg if it wasn't so much fun to drive now.

The only time my old 94 got less than 28 mpg on the freeway is if I was cruising over 80 mph. The best it did was 32.x mpg on a 400mi round trip at 69-74 mph. I guess that car had a few wiccan spells written into the tune or something.

I have 42# injectors, so mine never reads even close anymore.

I get about 26 mpg on the highway and got 15.5 mpg towing a load of 6000 lbs on a 1500 mile trip.

Yeah so I came on to a bit of a pissy realization when I last filled me tank? It was $49.50 to fill it when it said I had 1 mile left on my info center. I mean I gotta actually start using cash to fill the damn thing to save the few bucks cause I'm at the gas station at least 2 times a week

That and how many people do a half fill. Like when it is half way empty on a tank of 93 I would fill it with 87. Then when it is half way again I fill it with 93 and the engine seems to be ok with that.

Jeez I hate it when gas prices get me to the point that I start pinching pennies :shifty:

I remember when I first started driving in 2000, when I could fill the tank of my Cutlass for $20, and I was complaining that gas went up to a $1.30 a gallon.

Tell me about it, I used to drive a 440 R/T Challenger with 4:56 gears to work every day 50 miles round trip. These days I would go Bankrupt in a month

Keep in mind that there are so many additives in gasoline to control emissions, the performance and fuel economy are also affected. Alcohol takes three times the volume to equal the BTUs of gasoline and your gas may have 10-20% ethyl added to it. Winter blends are also made to flash in colder temperatures and that also hurts your MPG. Gas cleaners will help give you the most bang for your buck by adding efficiency from clean injectors and intake valves.

I average about 10 mpg. I can actually watch the needle go down as I drive. I hate it and love it at the same time. FML

Well I filled up yesterday morning for the long trip to Disney and it is 199 miles NE. I drove up there and back on the same tank.

The Hess station in which I filled up at near my house is where I filled back up when I got in my neighborhood my fuel gauge said I had 0 miles left till empty.

I got 409 miles to a full tank. Which equates to 25.50 mpg. Not too bad.

Mpg

First car '66 GTO- 389 and powerglide. MPG= nobody cared at the time- 1973- LOL. Gas was $0.37/ gal. I made $2.15 min wage x 20 hours a week and took my girlfriend to McD's- Big Mac, fries and coke for less than $1.00 and then to the drive in movies and still had cash in my pocket and a smile on my face from the back seat time- don't remember the movies back then though.

Ahhh, the good ole days at the drive-in movies. Popcorn, soda's, and sex. When you told someone you were taking your gal to the drive-in, they new for what.

I usually calculate using the trip miles with the amount of fuel I put in when I refill. Easy division and I used to get about 20mph city driving. It used to do ~220miles to the tank with 11-12 gallon refill. I never trusted the info center.

3 or 4 years ago my Dad took his 93 on a 9000 miles 4+ week vacation around the US (Pa to Florida to california to nevada, back to california and then back home to Pa with side excursions along the way) and he averaged 30.XX according to pen and paper and 29.8 according to the display. he was totally amazed, this was a LOT of highway, but also had short city trips and waiting in traffic too as he visited all the sites on his vacation.

My dad refuses to fly in an airplane, and will only fly in a lincoln :D.

Actually he drives about speed limit or slightly higher at most.

He also mentioned that in some mid western states he could not find fuel higher than 85 octane!

His 98 got about 27mpg doing roughly same trip 2-3 years earlier.
