What's the deepest gear people are running in their Marks? I'm thinking about going 4.56 or 4.88. I don't do much highway driving.

I wish I hadn't taken them out of my car, I regret it every day I get in it!
I have 4.56 gears trak lok in my mark viii. Was gonna run it with a 3500 stall converter but the setup went south quick. I was stoked for it to :q:q:q:q and git to its trap but never happened, oh well life goes on. By the way its for sale if interested.
I think you will hit O/D in the 1/4
I was waiting for that post!
Was that a straight swap just like any other gear change? I have heard 4.56s don't fit with the IRS dif cover but have not gotten info from someone hat has actually done it.
I know some of the solid rear 8.8's had cross-pin clearance issues with 4.56+ gears, I'm not sure whats the diff on the carriers though...
lol, no doubt. Didn't take long, eh?!
I took it for a drive with the 3.27's when I first switched back, and it was like "yah, ok, still not bad, I can live with this..."
Then when I pulled up next to one of the guys 'stangs at work whom I used to be even with or a hair quicker than, it was like "oh, nooooooooooooooooooo, lol... "
I thought it would be real bad in the snow with those gears, but I'm thinking it wouldn't have been much worse as I could always start in 2nd worst case ('tis nice to have with the 4R70W where my VII didn't with the AOD, which I didn't think of then either), and I do have seperate rims with pure snow tires on 'em, so I probably would have been good... I'm going to go cry myself to sleep now...
