Hi guys, I'm new here and need your advice. I'm currently driving an 04 Mustang GT, but because of some money issues (2 kids in college)I'm looking to cut my car payments down. I've always been a Ford guy even though I make a living as a Toyota parts manager. Anyway, I'm looking at a 98 Mark with 88K miles. The car is you basic Mark (not LSC) with the only option being a 10 disc changer. Since I've been lurking at this and most other Lincoln sites since my son bought a 94 Mark (2 months ago) I've learned through your knowledge what to look for. The car runs well, shifts right and the only thing I could find wrong was warped rotors. Even the blend door works (for now). The car has been garaged kept with no rust underneath at all. What I need to know is if $7000 is a fair price for this car?

7k is a pretty good price, but i would chop off a $1500( never know when you might need a tranny rebuild ), also make sure there are no leaks in the air suspension. good luck, and welcome aboard!

I paid $6500 for a 97 LSC loaded with moonroof,changer,heated seats,Octastar wheels. 97K miles. So $7000 doesn't sound to bad.

Anywhere from $6,000 to $10,000 depending on mileage and condition.

:iconcur: with the others. :W to :V !!

If all goes well, I'll be picking up the new ride either Monday or Wednesday. Went back to the dealer yesterday morning and took it for a nice long ride to make sure all was well. Quite a different ride compared to the Mustang. Mustang is a coarse ride with brutal acceleration, while the Lincoln is sophisticated and plenty fast enough for me. It won't be staying stock for long, my cars never do. Glad to be part of the club, these cars are some of the best automotive bargains on the market! Can't wait to pick it up.

Congrats on your purchase. I know you won't be able to leave it stock for long. The 98's come with the best 4R70W that the put in the Mark VIII's. I would start by flushing the transmission with some new Mercon 5 and possibly doing some other tune up things.
