I doubt its the IAC. My 96 started fine with a bad IAC. It would idle up and drop off,idle up and drop off, but not ussually die. Buford is right your missing one or the other. Assuming the car is turning over somewhat at a normal rate.
It is possible you flooded it. Holding the peddle down NOW won't work if the plugs are fuel soaked. When its cold they foul easier I believe and don't dry off over a short period of time like summer. Don't Lose your cool or you'll have more problems. Dead battery, etc.
