Girlfriend stole my LS

Thank you LDM for the link. It will help out a bunch.
That looks like alot of work. Didn't think it would be that
Hard to be honest with you. Lol

Its not hard just take your time. Have a steering wheel puller handy also. I think I paid like 120ish new from Tasca Ford. Your most likey flashing a 32 airbag code right?

This bashing could go on all day about Gen1 and Gen2 either way we all drive Lincolns that have issues...just sayin.

Def try to get a V8 do some thinking before you just go out and buy one nothing worst then owning an Ls with payments and not being able to afford to get the car fixed when it breaks-down.

Good luck!

Thanks manoli, yeah I'll deffantily look around
To see what my best options are. I'd love to have
A 2nd gen. They look shorter on the outside,
But yet roomier on the inside. Hopefully I can
Come across one with very lil chrome on the outside
Of it... I hate all that chrome on my ls6. Lol

I've never really read the code that flashes
But that does seems right when I glance at
It. But I will check the code tomorrow. Giving
The fact that the airbag light, steering wheel
Controls, and horn isn't working. I'm pretty
Sure it's the problem. Get that fixed it's on to
What's the problem with the sunroof. Lol

I was getting 25-ish all day long on my 4K-mi road trip the last two weeks in my Gen2 V8. For whatever 1-2 MPG the V6 might get you, it is worth having the extra power when you need to climb an on-ramp into 80-mph interstate traffic, or to just drive on the "normal" roads in West Virginia! LOL

Plus, for the most part, it seems that the V8's are easier to work on for the common problems compared to the V6.

Lol sounds like the roads when I lived
In Nashville, Tennessee... Man those roads
Are awesome lol. Yeah I'd like to have a
V8... I mean it's better to have the extra
Horsepower and not need it than need it and
Not have it..

Gen 1's and Gen 2's are the same car. Just alot of things different. Ford states 500 things changed. Some things are better some not in my book.

Yeah I know there is some things that are different.
Like headlights, taillights, foglights, steering wheel,
Cup holders, more horsepower, wheels, etc...
But over all I just like the 2nd gen looks with the
Smaller taillights... I'd like to get the lse front and back
Bumper for the '00 ls6 and the 2nd gen headlights also.

The best changes that I like are hid headlights and real wood on the inside. Also the design of the interior looks more modern.

I drove through West Virginia and Tennessee on this last trip, it was definitely nice to be able to set the cruise control at 75 and listen to the engine just humm along despite the mountains. Last time I flew up there and rented a V6 Chevy Impala and that thing would bog 5mph or so going up and then thump down a gear and speed up then upshift and bog down and rinse and repeat. Was annoying as all hell.

Only time I remember my LS bogging down was on Highway 50 in WV. There's a few sections where it is a 9% upgrade for like 5 miles. I remember hearing the engine grunting at 75 going uphill on cruise control. Didn't downshift but it wasn't at a regular cruising tone like on flatland either. By the way, if you get a Sport LS and are anywhere near that road in WV, drive it. It's AWESOME! Just don't be surprised if the tires start talking to you on the down-side of the mountain ;)

Tennessee wasn't nearly as bad as WV as far as steep angles or sharp turns from what I saw. What bugged me about driving the back roads there was all the blind corners and hidden driveways/intersections. Nothing like barreling down the road and a truck pops out of the trees.

Yeah, if only the HIDs weren't so rare or expensive on these cars!

Kumba:

I'll remember that if I ever make my way up there
To wv... But it's all pretty up there vs. Here in Florida
With all the flat lands...
But ima try for a 04-06 LS and hopefully
Find one with a 5 spd stick.
Automatics are good and all, but There isn't nothing
Like going through the gears on a stick shift.

Only V6 LS's got 5 speed sticks. And only 2000 ,2001?.

Yeah, we have no changing seasons really, so no colored leaves. No mountainous terrain to carve up on a nice drive. No couch bonfires when the college wins a game. This is all true....

... Instead we have a sun that is out almost all the time, no snow, no ice, no deicing salt/grit, no state/county/city income taxes, no depressing grey winters, no idea how to read a voting ballot, and no buckwheat. I think it's a fair trade. LOL :)

The New England area was even worse as far as the dull grey goes. I drove up from virginia to Portland, ME, then across to northern Indiana about an hour below Chicago. Everything in that northern Ohio and Pennsylvania and everything above that was just a gloomy grey. It reminded me of the sad feeling you get before depression or something. At least that's how it was along I-90 and I-95 last week. I would hope it's better in summer!

I did like the cold though. Wish it would drop another 10-15 degrees here!

Ok yeah, see that blows! I wonder why
Lincoln did that on only the first gens
And only the ls6?.. I mean I know it's
A luxury car. But at the same time when
They produced these cars they where after
The "younger" crowd of ppl. Which would
Only make sense if they were to make the
V8 manual as well... But oh well...
I've looked on craigslist and found a '05
LS ultimate with 89,000 miles, silver with
Dark grey leather interior for $13,000.
Which to me that's a bit to much.
Other then that I've found about 7 gen 1's

Kumba:
I know bro, I love the all the seasons
That they have in the higher states. And
You're right. It's either hot and muggy when
You walk out the front door you have a
Instant heat stroke. Or it's a wet cold winter
Which sucks! Everything is green or just plain
Dead during the winter with no color on the trees.

And as far as bonfires when our college teams win?
Yeah we have nothing like that... To me I think Florida
Is a place of retirement and you shouldn't move here
Unless your 60... Lol and we can't vote right to save our lifes.

I was lucky to find one with them. Honestly i didnt even know untill i turned them on for the drive home from the dealer.

It wasnt listed as a feature of the car.

Most i would give for that is about $10K and thats if it was loaded.

And yes a V8 manual would have been cool.

That's a WVU joke. Whenever they win a game, they like to take the furniture outside (primarily couches since it's a college) and burn them. They even have a song (well a few) about it: Burning down the Couch - YouTube

Lol ok. Cause I was like whaaaaat?!..
That must be intense to someone new to watch that.
I mean as far as being there in person and actually
See that.

I know here in panama city, fl me and my boys go to
Our bog in hole and sit on couches, tailgates, hot water heaters
And sit around a bonfire and play "who can get stuck first" in their
Trucks. Lol

Yeah, I don't see myself paying what they want... Just like
A member said on here. I'm just going to take my time and
Not jump on the first LS I see... Just going to try and play
My cards.

And if I find one and before I buy it I'll post the problems
If any that it has. Cause to be honest don't know that much
About them and would like to learn more about them.

The official reason was that the manual transmission that they had couldn't handle the power from the V8 (either generation) or the gen II V6. I think that another factor was that the manual didn't sell real well because manual buyers didn't generally go to Lincoln dealers.

Lincoln had the chance to really have something with the LS, but they weren't willing to take a chance and put enough money into the car or into marketing the car. They also weren't willing to allow enough time for the market to find it.

Aww that sucks that the tranny couldn't
Handle the power. Nd how Lincoln wouldn't
Put the car out there to sell like it should've
Been like they did the mkz... What a loss for
Lincoln and for us LS lovers...

LS6, are you on your phone typing this? Your text always looks like it's supposed to be a poem lol.

The Manual transmission was available in 200-2002. These are really fun to drive but don't have the low end power that the v8 has so around town it doesn't feel like much. BUT when you need to pass just pull the revs above 4k and you'll scoot and keep up with the v8, or at least I can ;)

You won't get better fuel economy with the stick though because there's no overdrive. Just an FYI.
