Rude? No. Accurate? Yes. Bullying would be if I went to the MKS board to slam the MKS. Besides, you say he shared his opinion, I shared mine. Do I not have the same rights to share opinions that he does? If he enjoys his dishwasher, I mean his front wheel drive car, more power to him, but it's still front wheel drive and therefore not a performance vehicle.

I did not notice the engine noise being greater but I never punched it, I drove them both the same, as an SUV on a family trip. You can feel more of the pavement imperfections with the low profiles and that is what they are supposed to do, transmit more road feel.
I guess you and I are on the same page about handling. I would enjoy buying a larger V8 powered rwd luxury sedan with Lincoln engine, transmission, body and of course quality high end materials and components, since we are wishing here. But, since there is nothing of the sort available I went with something I think is as good even though it is lacking the V8 feel and sound, which cannot be duplicated with a turbo V6 imo. I am biased against turbos since they tend to be subject to turbo lag, are expensive to fix once they break which to me means for everyday driving one would not chose to have a turbo charged engine on their long term use vehicle. But, time have changed and turbochargers may be more reliable and less exotic than they seemed to be in the past.

My point is I share Lincoln's view about Lincoln, since I am sure Lincoln's marketing agency must embody that view, and I interpret that view as not going down the performance and handling route taken by Cadillac and BMW. I think I made my case as to why I share that interpretation of his view.
Now don't get me wrong, Cadillac sales are up using their approach of making BMW's with tail fins so one cannot argue with success. It's just that Lincoln does not seem to want to play in that arena but wants to make affordable high quality different vehicles, those that are not "me too" vehicles. That is certainly what my "washing machine" is and I love the spin cycle.

I dunno, I would feel that buying what they have rather than what you want is the wrong way to go when someone else does offer what you want. When you buy something you express approval of it as is even if it isn't what you actually wanted. If you want a RWD V8 but all they offer is a FWD V6, buying one tells them that they are making what people want but not buying one hits their sales and makes them reconsider. When their cars don't sell, they change them so they will. This is why I might visit a Lincoln dealer in my LS, then tell them they have nothing on their lot I would buy, and is why I regularly email the various OEMs that I would be interested in buying from. I periodically go after Buick on this, because I've had a number of excellent Buicks but won't buy a front wheel drive.
On the turbo thing, turbo lag should soon be a thing of the past.

You have a good point about buying what you want. What do you suggest in the luxury V8 arena and please don't suggest the 300 unless you are very serious, I bought my one an only Chrysler product in 1982 when I first got married and wanted a four door young family car that sips gas but looks like a luxury car, I bought an Aries K SE with cloth seats (that was luxury back then) and metallic paint and pinstripes and SE logos and large trunk and sorry ass engine. It fell apart literally before my eyes and was in the shop 10 times over the year I had it before my ex-wife rolled it. Best thing she ever did for me.

At the moment there just isn't much of anything out there. The Caddy RWDs are too small, the Mercs are too expensive for a larger car and too small in the affordable range. Not a fan of the Bavarians. I had high hopes for the new SS, but then Chevy released what they were doing: max options only, 44 grand, and you don't even get the VVT or DOD so you have to pay a gas guzzler tax. I think GM is going to try and claim that the average American doesn't want a RWD V8 by intentionally ucking the SS up. If I were going to buy a new car TODAY the only things on the short list are the Porsche Cayenne (one of the most comfortable cars I've ever sat in) or the Dodge Charger, perhaps a Mercedes SLK55 with a few extra bucks. Chrysler has stepped up their quality quite a bit since the K car, but I have never been a Chrysler fan and that a Chrysler is on my short list is a sad commentary on the state of the American automobile. Really I hope to not need to buy a new car anytime soon. 2016 looks like it might be a good year for domestics, as Chevy is coming out with a new RWD platform, and Lincoln may have a RWD V8.
Oh, and sorry if I was a little harsh on the FWD thing. Doesn't change my opinion of them though.

My every day driver before I purchased the LS 10 years ago was a 1987 XR4Ti. The original owner replaced the head gasket at 36,000 miles (the electric fan thermostat did not function and he drove it until it over heated). I fixed the fan control and drove the car until it rusted out from under me. When I sold it it had 280,000 miles and the original turbo. Other than that head gasket at 36,000 the engine was never opened up. I beat on it. At around 175,000 miles the boost control solenoid failed. I noticed during a third gear pass on a two laner that seemed to occur rather swiftly. At the end of the pass I heard a buzzer going off and looked at the gauges to see ~23 psi boost (normally limited to 15 psi). I drove gently for a week while I waited for a new control valve to be shipped to me. The momentary overboost did not seem to hurt the engine.
Personally I do not need a very fast car (mid 6 seconds to 60 is plenty), I get my kicks on the bike. I do want decent fuel economy for several reasons. When I go skiing the cost of the fuel (600 miles per weekend) does add up. I also want a range of over 400 miles so I don't have to stop for fuel too frequently. The Merkur fell short of this goal while the LS meets it.
I also have never owned an automatic and would rather not start now. I don't replace clutches often (the LS is on its original at 160,000 miles) but I know how to if need be. I don't know how to rebuild and auto box. I could learn I guess, but the repair would likely have the car off the road longer than a clutch job.

Funny. I can remember when just about all Euro cars were front wheel drives and a few American car pundits back in the 70s were espousing the wonderful handling of front wheel drives. I can say front wheel drives are great handlers from experience. I have had only three though, the 81? Aries K, the 2012 Maxima and now the MKT. The Max and the MKT handle very well, the Max better naturally. The front wheel drive is an issue on fast takeoff with torque steer. It was especially bad on the Maxima, I had to grip the wheel or lose it in a high power launch. The MKT has a little but much less than the Max.
Telco was not bullying. Giving an opinion. MKT whatever is name has started crap at this point. He posted a mocking comment in the LS Section in another topic. I deleted it. But it was uncalled for and rude. MKT is giving his opinion trying to pass it off as fact. I owned a MKZ. FWD version 21mpg 265hp. For FWD it did not lack performance or luxury. It was also offered in a AWD platform. Which I did have the pleasure to drive. Very fun vehicle drive. If MKT wants to be a part of the community. Stop going to other vehicle sections and mocking said model. You don't see other member saying anything about how ugly the MKT is do you? If he is going act like a "troll", he will be treated like one.

My father came to this country in 1970 and has owned NOTHING but Lincoln Town Cars... literally nothing else. He has had SEVERAL... you should of seen how disappointed he was when he saw the new "Town Car." He currently has a 2008 and a 2002 and won't get rid of them until they "change it back." LOL
Well all I saw was the interaction on here. And since he owned one of the newest Lincolns being made, I think he has every right to talk about his MKT as that is were Lincoln seems to be going. Not just the MKT forum like it was suggested.

I've had FWD, RWD and 4WD. Not had an AWD yet, although Chevy's Autotrac is pretty close to it as it's like a part time AWD. I've driven FWD all the way from top of the line Caddys all the way down to a Ford Escort that was so bad the guy that gave it to me free felt bad about it. Not one of them was any sort of a fun driver. None of them have handled half as well as a RWD. RWD, even a 4x4 in 2WD mode, handles and drives better than even the best FWD I've ever been behind the wheel of. Sports oriented or luxury minded, doesn't matter. When you're dragging your ass you aren't having a good time.

correct, while he does have the right to say what he wants where he want, its got to be expected to not be received well (and quite badly by a few) for talking about any different car than the sub section that you are in. thats just the nature of the beast, none of the people that are so focused on their car being the best is ever going to respect anything said from a person who believes the opposite is true.
could you imagine the verbal beating i would get if I would go and talk about how sweet my LS was anywhere on the mark side?

We had an '82 LeBaron. What a pile! With the A/C on it couldn't even get out of it's own way! Trip to the mountains? Be familiar with the turn-outs! It was horrible in the snow. There were song lyrics explaining the ride........ Slip-sliding away!! Enjoy your FWD appliance and feel free to frequent the MKT boards and leave us alone. This is the LS forum, in case you are confused (which you obviously are with your FWD praise!).
