Came out of the record store with my kids to a guy asking if I owned a Lincoln.
I thought he wanted to tell me how much he liked my car......But no.
Instead he told me how his girl backed into it with her 07 Escalade.

Man this sucks

i hate it how some parents think its acceptable to give their learning kids big oversized lots of blind spots SUVs
as if she needs an escalade
did the man cover the costs or is it yours to deal with?

who are you to tell anyone that they "dosent need" an Esclalade? It is acceptable to give thier kids anything they want as long as they are taught values."as if she needs an escalade" Im certain that you would put your significant other in the largest safest vehicle possible right? Oh I guess or right a ford festiva IS better on gas but lets do a side impact on both cars and see which one come out better? Now go vote for obama

It was his girlfriend not his daughter.
I guess I wasent very clear.
But I dont think she was 21.
I got all the insurance info will have to deal with it on Mon.
Its true the Esclalade has blind spots.
And Im sure she is finding them at my expense.

sorry, i thought she was 16
my bad
but honestly, if i had a 16 year old anything i sure as hell would not set them loose in a $60000+ car

At least the guy "Manned Up" and hung around to tell you what happened.

In most cases like that.... they just take off.

She fessed up yes.
Getting the cash is a whole different matter.
Grand total 3231.91 to get it fixed right.
That dosent include the car rental when its getting fixed."Ya like thats going to happen"
Plus the Ins co. will never go for the cost of fixing it. :(
If damage is over 70 % of KBB value they will total it.
Who knows what I can get out of the Ins co. for cash.
If Im lucky and buy the car back maybe I can find a cheap shop to slop it together.
Or do it myself.
No matter how you look at it im f@cked.

Oh, that'll buff right out.

Seriously though, it don't look that bad. Looks like she only damaged the exterior, the structural stuff should still be OK.

Hood might be your biggest challenge. Finding a hood, Getting it painted... etc. The cornering light and headlamp should be an easy find. The bumper don't look cracked, just scratched.

And I agree with JR. Parents nowadays get their kids tanks on wheels because theyre "safe". Never mind the poor 30 year old guy in a small car the kids will plow into, as long as their kids are "safe". [/OT]

Yes, I read the escalade driver wasn't a kid.

i mean, if you can handle a truck at 16, go ahead and drive one!
but most 16 year olds can barely handle a 1987 chevy celebrity(one of my favorite small chevys) let alone a 400 horse tank

i actually learned to drive with my permit in a 1G escalade always with supervision though. i think if you learn on something big then something small is easier when your on your own. you know where your car sits on the road and its dimensions better.

as for that.... im surprised an 07 escalade doesnt have the rear backup sensors. if it did then all i can say is wow, women. technology cant overcome stupidity

Oh, that'll buff right out.
What grit rubbing compound should I start with do you think ?

You right Frogman its not that bad just another thing to stuff into my busy summer.

glanga

Standard Feature is a Rear Electronic Parking Aid With Alarm, Audio-Visual Sensors, and Ultrasonic Sensors.

I guess she is just stupid.
When I talk to her I will ask her wtf....I wonder what she will say.

the camera doesnt cover the whole width of the bumper, my mom has one, its a bitch to park because the mirrors are too small for such a big thing

ROFL you must be kidding me.
Mirrors and a camera and Rear Electronic Parking Aid With Alarm, Audio-Visual Sensors, and Ultrasonic Sensors.
And its a bitch to park ?
I wonder how I been driving a full size bronco for the last 10 years and never hit anything.
How do the poor people with the suburbans and the expeditions manage to do it everyday. I got to wonder

strange thing i went to wawa to get a meatball sub, put it in reverse and the sensor starts beeping....some fat woman was walking behind my car and it picked her up.

the girl just sounds like an idiot. probably on her cell phone too i bet!

as long as you "Scratch" an import or two. im sure cars will come standard soon with nvg's and thermal imaging also. some already do and people still cant drive.

What a difference 4 days make.
Ins. company is sending me a check for $3200 in my name no buy back no BS  :D
I bought a parts car for dirt cheap.
Local body shop Quoted me 400 bucks to spray the hood and fix the fender and line up everything.
When its all said and done looks like I'm going to be money ahead.
Heres a few pics of the 94 I will have in my driveway tomorrow.

Hey ford nut sorry to hear about that incident. That 94' you bought for spares looks pretty good in itself. What was up with it to end up being sold cheap?

Haha, I only read the beginning post before my eloquence was spoken. I see it turned out the way I thought and they ponied up the full amount. I'll leave my post because it was written the way i saw things without your post further on down. Way to go. Buy some mods.

No matter how you look at it im f@cked.
What are you crying about. :shifty: You're in the money. Get a quick insurance settlement for $2500 cash and tell them you'll fix it.

It's a fiberglass hood. Any glass guy worth his salt can fix that for $100. Paint? Whatever it costs. Couple hundred. Heck, blue metallic is not hard to match.

The headlight and cornering lamp aren't exactly new so getting a used one to match of the same quality should be straightforward.

I say you should walk out with at least $1500 from the ordeal, minimum, of which you can in turn reinvest in some high quality mods and bingo, happy camper.:D

I ran across this car after I had my tires put on at a tire plus store.
That was in late march, it was still there so I made a offer.
According to them it needs air bag work they couldnt read the codes because the port for the reader is so badly corroded and they cant find a new one.

MonsterMark
I didnt know I was crying....thought I was bitchin.
Kinda the same I guess.
You seem to be able to tell what the future brings.
Maybe you can help me.
I have a first date on Sat.
Will I get lucky or sent home with a hand shake ?

Oh right, cool. are you gonna take the bits you need and re sell it whole or break it and sell the remaining bits?

I havent decided what to do with it.
It has a new alt the poor fool paid 400 for from ford.
