Here's some pics of my new engine. This was a nearly impossible find. It's not a crate engine, nor a ford racing engine, nor a rebuild. It's an ORIGINAL 96 Mark VIII 4.6 DOHC 4V Long Block direct from Ford. The engine was ordered for a customer with a 97 Mark, at a large Lincoln dealership, over 7 years ago, yet the customer never picked it up. The service manager decided to "stash" it under a stair case in their temperature controlled storage facility. It never moved for 7 years. He planned on keeping it for an eventual cobra stang build with his teenage son. $2000. cash.... :N
Notice the original tape on the IMRCs.
Serial number and mid 96 build date on the valve cover.
Notice the motorcraft oil filter straight from the factory- and the tape over the plugs- Geno tells me these came from the factory plugs and all..
Got Dust? My Mark..aka "the beast"..aka.."the icemobile"... has been sitting on and off for the better part of two years with a blown head gasket. I had to swap out a battery to fire her up in order to get the engine in the garage. My neighbors were shocked..."that thing purrs like a kitten"...the only problem is I might not make it down the road with the thing...
As soon as I get the headers from Kooks, the car gets shipped down to LMS for an engine swap, headers, a custom exhaust, possibly some intake mods, a few fuel system odds and ends, and some general TLC.
Hopefully Geno will have fun putting my baby back together... :wrench
