Got Spanked by a VW GTI

Friday I was traveling from Tampa to Naples, very light traffic. This VW GTI started screwing with me. So I figured what the hell go for it. I finally let out of the LS around 125 MPH...This sucker blew by me like I was standing still. He must have been doing 140 or better. What the hell do these cars have in them??? Or do you think he might have givin it a shot of Nitrous??? Well at any way I spanked a CTS...So that made me feel a little better.
 
i have no idea, but the last time i ran one of those, it was from a stop. he got me good off the line then about 50 mph got next to him and then destroyed him top end, the guy looked at me like i had 40 eyes, when we stopped at the light. i gave him the thumbs up, then the thumbs down, he got realllly pissed...lol. at that time i was stock, but i all i have now is a chip, but still in my opinion im stock.
 
That VW probably had a VR6 - VW's version of a v6. It is a pretty decent engine I think like 185 HP transverse mounted with front wheel drive and that car is so small. I had a Passat wagon which was pretty fast with the VR6 motor but half again the weight of the GTI. You can chip and juice that motor.

That's what I figured, he had juice. I looked that model up it shows a 200 H.P. engine. He had an exhaust and chrome wheels. That's about all I can see as far as exterior. The car was actually pretty nice looking. Nut I still wouldn't buy one. I'm thinking Mustang GT next. Just waiting for prices to come down. There selling them here in Tampa area 3-5 K over window sticker.... F**K that I'm not paying over any sticker price.

What chip how much hp did u get
 
i dont know if he juiced you, he might of... but if he did, he is either 1. a very stupid person to spray on the highway, knowing there is a chance to lose control a wrap up 2. a really really good driver.

im not saying this in a bad way maybe he got you with momentum, it happens all the time. i race against my friends 94 rustang GT, i destroy him every single time, but the ONLY time he beats me is if im coasting at 50-60 i see him coming hard behind me, i floor it... knowing that im still kinda in my power band... i get up to 100mph... he comes flying passed me like i was sitting still. but you know about this momentum crap anyway, so im just adding my knowledge to this anyway i can... all i know i really never seen guys that ive raced against, on the highway no less, spray me.
 
Is ur LS a V6? becasue I realy can't see my V8 LS getting rice burned? no matter what speed my rolling start is, lets say hes runnin 160-175hp 6cyl, im runnin 280 horesed on my V8, hes have to spray a 50-75 shot of nos just to keep up to me and maybe at best tie me. Also u think a 2004 V8 LS Ultimate with magnaflow exhaust and an LSK Intake will beat a 300C Hemi?
 
I have an 02 Jetta with the 1.8 turbo - the thing is a rocket! Top speed of 145mph, this is the 4cyl and it is the highly desired motor. Lots of mods out there for the motor too!
 
Still can't touch a V8 LS, I don't even think a 3ooc hemi could touch a V8 LS cuz i hear the hemi is liek 4000-4200 lbs, and im pretty sure the LS is 3200 and change.

You are high. The LS is 3700-3800 depending on the year. A 300C would blow the doors off any stock or near-stock LS.

There are a lot of ricey 4-bangers that would blow your doors off too, including but not limited to some turbo VWs like that mentioned at the start of the thread.
 
look not to start anything but the ls is not a fast car. its pretty quick but theres plenty of cars faster. vr6's move. its proven you dont need a ton of power to move a car thats in the 2000lb range. I had a nissan that ran high 12's that didnt make much more power than my ls does. and the 300c hemi is a pretty serious car. gotta give respect where its due ya know? ive seen real fast crap cars and and real slow luxury cars. me personally i like my ls because it handles well looks great and seems like a pretty good deal for the price. I never considered it a car for racing. Ive been in the racing scene b4 and I dont thing a 4 door car with the weight of the ls is an ideal choice for strait line racing. Again just my opinion so theres no need for certain people to get all upset i know how the internet can be.

93 sentra w/ sr20det 13lbs boost 75 shot nitrous express, four puck, 3" exhaust, starion pump and intercooler, apexi afc, avc-r, blueprinted injectors, port and polished and who knows wtf else, i sold that car almost 2yrs ago after they broke into it.

How much you spend on that thing? At least it being a sentra the car itself was dirt cheap before the mods.
 
got it for $2000 from some girl who graduated college and got a new car from daddy. It was the first car I ever paid for. And I dumped about 20 into it. we did r32 skyline tailights to it candy red flake paint carbon fiber everything!!! man the list was huge. she took me about 5 years to get it the way i wanted. It was a fun ride, nuthin like turbo and nitrous in a car that weighs less than 2000lbs. I used to smoke so many high end cars. especially on the hwy... then had a few kids car got broken into and POW im in the ls (not complaining tho).
 
The Hemi doesnt have that much more HP than my 2004 Ls V8 im arround 315-320 rite now, the Hemi is claimed at 340 but hardly any vehicles are rite on spec so im giving it 330 stock, and it weighs 4140lbs vs. 3674 in my LS, thats an extra 466lbs. Iunno but i feel my LS can take my buddy's Hemi, he keeps bothering me saying that his 300C Hemi can kill my LS cuz it has a "HEMI" W()W!! Also the Hemi Runs on 4Cyl until u push it, so wouldnt there be some lag time till the full 8cyl are going? Im Pretty confident i can take him.
 
well lou ran a 13.915@101.52mph w nitrous... they say the stock hemi does..
2005 Chrysler 300C Hemi 5.3 13.90 I dont recall what a stock ls8 runs i believe it was around 14.9 or so..

and you have the 04' ls8 ultimate 280hp I believe... correct me if i'm wrong.. but jsut outa curiousity.. you have the magnaflow exhaust and intake.. woudl that put you up aroudn 315 didnt they re-engineer everything... to almost perfection intake wise/exhaust wise... wheres lou???

There is no lag in the Hemi when it switches between 4/8 cylinders. In fact, it constantly switches back and forth, you just can't tell.

The MS Autos site lists a 2004 LS Ultimate at 3811 pounds and a 300C at 4046, so unless you've had the cars weighed or know otherwise, your assumption may be optimistic.

You also should not assume "hardly any vehicles are right on spec." These days they are. Even Hyundai fell victim to a huge scandal when it overrated one of its econocars by a mere 11 HP. Plus, 300Cs do dyno consistent with 340 HP, assuming standard 20% drivetrain loss.

If your LS is modded, you have a shot. There's only one way to find out, but I'd put my money on the Chrysler.
