So is anyone else getting tired of seeing the new MKS commercial? I have never seen so much publicity for a Lincoln before. I dont ever remember seeing a commercial for the LS, much less every other commercial break.

Yeah it's on a lot. At least Ford's spending some money promoting it, I'm sure Lincoln's survival depends somewhat on it's success.

I don't see it very often. Must not be on the channels I watch. (Discovery, History, Comedy Central, Cartoon network during adult swim... that's about it. :p

I see it every so often. The commercials are good, and the car is beautiful. Hopefully this will give life to Lincoln :D

Eh... it would be nice if they'd put out a REAL decent car. MKS... right, just what I AM LOOKING FOR... a dressed up, re-badged Ford Five-hundred/Taurus. Complete with family car underpinnings, marginal brakes and boring suspension.

Ford needs to remove their heads from their rears and put out something new and remarkable under the Lincoln badge... Cadillac is spanking the crap out of them... and why? Because they are offering lively cars with good suspensions built on a pretty solid chassis and sporting engine options that don't make you want to fall asleep.

MKZ, MKS... would be much more suited to the Mercury brand; come on Lincoln... get on board!!! Bring out a platform exclusive to the Lincoln brand that feels like a luxury car with sporty underpinnings instead of a dressed up, sloppy, squishy family sedan. MAYBE the Lincoln name would actually start turning a respectable profit!

And the comercial sucks! WAYYYY over played

It may just be a regional thing but i swear i see that commercial atleast once every 1-3 commercial breaks. I was just next too another MKS today, its proportions seem wierd. The windows look too small, the door panal is freakin HUGE. Looks like a door from a F350 or something, maybe thats a good thing in case a actual F350 t-bones you. Its just too massive of a car for me, and again the exposed exhaust pipes look very tacky on a luxury car.

One other thing, i noticed the badging has the "S" in MKS in a different font. Is Lincoln making "MK" their new line with the last initial the body style? MKS, MKZ, MKX ??

I disagree:

I do agree that the MKS looks terrible next to an LS. I have no idea about the commercials, since I refuse to pay for cable television/satellite/etc.

I disagree:

I'm not talking about the muffler/exposed tailpipes....i'm talking the pipes going from muffler back to the cats. Both pipes are very visable from the rear of the car, its like the bumper is too high or something. Next time i am on the road and see one i'll grap a picture of it.

Nope :D I only get 2 channels right now. I have to find that site to get the voucher from the government. Are they still sending them out?

That makes more sense. That is Tacky on a luxury ride. You'd think the engineers would've thought of something so seemingly simple.

I think one of the reasons its so visable is because the LS sits rather normal and the MKS is HUGE, the driver looked like he was sitting a good foot higher than me and the wheels which were stock i'd swear were like 20" rims.

The stock wheels are 19" now, with 20s coming soon, if they're not out already.

The exhaust on MKS sucks, you can see everything from the back, and it's not even pretty, just one pipe that devides into two at the end like an accord or a camry, not a true dual exhaust.

Whether you like the MKS or not, seeing those ads is a good thing--it marks a break from Ford's traditional "launch and abandon" advertising strategy. And I have seen a bunch of them; they're not quite to the point of saturation, but I do see them frequently.

As for Cadillac beating Lincoln, I wonder which one is actually closer to profitability. It doesn't matter how many cars you're selling if you're not making a profit, and (at least until the recent economic downturn), the new Lincoln cars (MKS/MKX/MKS) were selling at profitable levels.

I actually was in a focus group in the DC area a few months ago for that commercial. The options for music were a Sade' song, or the one they chose..which is a jazz version of Marvin Gaye's "I Want You". I instantly voted for the "I Want You"...a soul classic.

They play the mks commercial with High Roller crystal method a lot here in the northeast.

While the platform may not suit our (superior) tastes, the eco boost is a step in the right direction. If it is successful, a real LS replacement may follow... Hopefully...

how about an eco boost 6 cylinder base model LS. RWD and optional AWD and optional supercharged aluminum 5.4. 6 spd manual and automatic option. Jag S-type r 18" vulcan style wheels w 285 35 18's all the way around.

If you are seeing the commercial a lot it just means you are in the demographic they are hoping to sell the car to. I don't have cable and I still see the commercial a lot.

As for car brands, yes Cadillac is beating Lincoln. But, Ford Motor Company is not taking any bailout money (yet) and GM is begging for it. In a few years you will see that GM will cut many brands while Ford will likely only kill Mercury. Of course, a lot of Ford's current financial state is based on the sale of Jag, Aston and Land Rover which gave them a nice cash infusion.
