unbolt all of the things that are on the roof like the mirrors, handles, and lights.

then remove the A, B (and unbolt seat belts ), and C pillars and drop the liner.

this is 2nd gen, 1st gen should be near the same.

if the leak is down one or both of the A pillars, its probably the drain hose that runs from the sunroof, the hose has a tendency to come off

Normally, it isn't necessary to drop the whole liner to fix those hoses.

correct, i only took all the stuff in the front down and let the headliner hang low enough to get up there and reconnect the hose.

well thank you guys again but it needs to come down so i can sound deaden the roof :p

In that case...
The service manual says that you need to remove both front seats before you start to remove the headliner. With the front seats removed, it then possible to remove the headliner from the cabin without bending (and damaging) it. The manual says to remove it through the left rear door opening.

Joegr is right. I removed the headliner in my 00 . I found out the hard way that the seats had to be removed. I fought with it and inspectagated everything, thinking there had to be a way without removing the seats. There isn't. Unless you take a box knife to it ! Lol

I removed my headliner ('02) with the front seats in. Just went real slow and had the driver's seat all the way forward and (IIRC) the passenger all the way back.

If he's sound deadening, he might as well pull the seats and carpet, and deaden the floor too.

Damplifier pro and Luxury liner pro ftw!

Although this thread is old and went down a different path at the end. How did you guys reconnect that hose? I'm pulling on it and there is only enough to barely cover the "nipple" on the moon roof drain.

Has anyone replaced this hose? Or should I just look to extend this one somehow?

ive never done it, but i'd bet a combination of new hose and some of those plastic windshield washer connectors would get it done

Yeh, I'm really leaning towards replacing them as opposed to jerry rigging something together with other sections of hose and zip ties or hose clamps.. They really pinched pennies when it came to the length of hose used. Makes me wonder if it was ever connected in the first place.

I found the same size house laying around on our garage shelf. To join them, I cut the end off a sharpie and used it as a connector :shifty::shifty:

Worked perfect, has been about 8 months now.

I found the same size house laying around on our garage shelve...

That must be quite a garage you have there. Also, I always thought shelve was a verb?

(Couldn't resist...)

Yeh I could easily go out and attach another hose to it to close the gap but I was just wondering if anyone has replaced the whole thing. I'll probably end up doing what everyone has done in the past but just poking around the options here.

Don't know what you're talking about :D

It was the same ID, maybe a little bigger overall. I found just enough length.

I'll need to do this soon. Luckily, I have several rolls of Tygon tubing at work; I'm sure they wouldn't miss a couple of inches. I just need to take it apart to see what size I need. I also have several rolls of sticky Velcro that I can use to hold the headliner back up, since it's starting to fall down by the rear window.

I just pulled mine up and used some telco zip ties. Been holding since Issac.

Welp, let's hope I never have to do that again. Decided just to put a spliced connector hose with hose clamps in it to bridge the gap. Again, if I bought the car new, I would have paid $10 extra for those hoses to be longer. Gorilla hands don't fit in there too well.

I dont know. That would have been another $0.17 per month for 60 mos.

It's not the money. I'm sure they designed the hoses to the right length. Someone on the assembly line probably pulled some of them to far on the other end and then trimmed the excess off.
