Just bought a 96 base...for my partner..I drive a 2003 Mach 1 with paint issues currently but he fell in love with the Mark when he saw it. 127K on the clock and as far as I can tell the air is working. It does have the shudder from the TC and needs a tuneup. Had a birthday last sat..and got a 260 set of Craftsman tools from the 'rents. They said if we have a car this old I need some tools....so hello :-D

I've read pages and pages of posts on this forum since we decided to look at the 96. I take no offense, as his troll status looks to have been well earned. I am not a troll however and hope y'all can help me get this Mark in great shape.
Only pic I have so far on the computer, I'll have more tomorrow as it is dark out now. The paint is seriously faded and it needs a grille. Luckily that is about it for body damage other than some SLIGHT rust on the bottom of the pass. door.

You need some rims for that car STAT. I bought mine with converter shudder also. New filter and Mercon 5 cured it 100% in a couple days run time. I don't know if 96 has the "dimple" trans pan but if it does not its a cheap upgrade while your there. (FYI need filter kit for newer mk8 to fit pan) You did alot of research here and still bought a "96"?? LOL We always hear of the 1 year only parts the 96 has and hard times finding them. A challenge has never scared me..and even though Lincoln improved a lot of things with the Gen2...I always liked the Gen1, had a poster of one in my room in HS.
