and it will only go out of park when I disconect the battery?????????ANYBODY??????? is there a sensor under the brake pedal that mite be bad or came out of ajustment

Brake safety switch could be bad, I had to replace one on my Wife's 00 Stang. It would fail to work on any incline, after rocking the car back and forth it would kick in and release the gearshift. Finally it failed 100%.

Man that sucks. I mean a lot can go wrong with a car, but that? lol. everything is good and you just cant get it in gear. Any way to bypass it?

you could unbolt your center console and see if things are working right with the shifter itself.

I thought this mite be a common promblem,or there is a switch for that, maybe under the brake pedal??like the brake light switch

look for a broken wire at the brake light switch, and on most fords if you turn the key to the first position you can take it out of park then put it in neutral and start it from there

thanks

Im dredging up an old post because my car is now having this problem. It takes quite a few presses of the brake pedal to get the shifter out of park. Is there anything other than a fuse that could all of the sudden go wrong???

like chicken said....brake pedal switch....replaced twice on my sho dur to the same problem, one went intermittently out, the other just outright died.
Turn to the first key click and go to neutral, then start.

^^^^yeah what he said^^^ lolol also check the wires to the switch they break at the connector really eays
