Hey guys, I know I'm new and everything but I need y'all's help. So I've recently had an issue with acceleration, whenever I try to speed up, my car will nearly redline but it will hardly accelerate. My car also rocks back and forth while idling in drive at lights and whatnot and eventually stalled out completely. This was thought to be due to the fact that my catalytic converters were completely clogged. Well now I have nothing inside my catalytic converters as I have busted all of it out (we do not emissions in my county so this is why I haven't just put new converters on as it is not required). But seeing as it couldn't possibly be the cats, what do y'all think it could be? I have also replaced spark plugs and that helped more than anything...that is, until now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am at a loss. Thanks.

Most likely a vacuum leak. Are you getting any codes? Do you hear a hissing sound inside the car when you accelerate?

I need to run codes, my brother has an OBD1 reader so hopefully i can get with him soon to check it out. I just took it for a spin to go grab dinner and everything was seemingly fine. I swapped coil packs whenever I bought it, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're good. I can't recall any hissing sounds.

I guess I'll have to do it old skool, I know I had to do this with my truck but didn't even think of just sticking a paper clip in it. Hopefully I can pull codes tomorrow between work and school, if not, I hope she'll be okay for a couple of more days.

Have you changed the fuel filter? A plugged fuel filter can cause those symptoms. If you haven't, or don't know when it was changed, I would definitely change it.

I changed out the fuel filter about a week and a half ago, it was pretty bad. Do y'all think I should run injector cleaner through it? It was seafoamed soon after I bought the car and got it up and running.

Cleaning injectors certainly won't hurt. If you have access to a professional injection cleaning machine, such as a motorvac, I would use that. Another thing to check is the mass air flow sensor. Try cleaning it first. 9 out 10 times cleaning it works. Sometimes they need to be replaced, but not often.
