I really need a diagram, picture, or drawing for the hydraulic fan motor on a 2000 Lincoln ls v6.. My pops took it apart and doesn't remember how it goes back together.. any help would be appreciated

No pictures, sorry, but it's really simple.
There's only the rotor, with a key that locks it onto the shaft, and the back plate. And a gasket, of course. It won't work at all without the key.

The rotor has to go in with the correct face facing forward. Unfortunately I can't remember how to tell, and the service manual doesn't have that detail.

You may just have to assemble it, see what happens, and take it back apart if it doesn't work.

The only parts i saw were a big star shape metal that goes in then a smaller one goes in that one. Would that be all the pieces? Do you know what the arrows are on the pieces? Thank you for your help.

There's the key that locks the smaller one (rotor) onto the shaft. It's a very small rod, maybe 1/4" long?
Yeah, I forgot about the outer rotor.
I don't remember about the arrows. Can you post a pic?

Here are the pictures oddball..so now I know i'm definitely missing the lock. The weird part is that it was not in there..now i know why before we bought the vehicle some guy replaced a cracked radiator and he pulled apart the cover to take the fan out he must have lost the lock. All this time i thought it was a bad pump.. You think that little lock is available or should i just get another fan? thanks for helping.

The fan and fan motor were nearly $400 when they were still made. I'd shoot for the shaft key. Ford doesn't list it with the fan assembly. I'm not sure where you can find it, except maybe a junkyard. I'd be tempted to try to fabricate one.

I don't know if I can fabricate something that small..That is a lot of money...i am going to hit the junkyard this weekend there is two ls there. thanks for the advise and info..

Just slid out gears and see what keyway should look like and make one. Little time with a basic file and that should be done. It looks like it might just be a piece of round stock. If so you could maybe find nail same dia and cut out little piece to use.

Let me know if you have trouble finding/making one - it is just a really small piece of round or square stock. My old one is buried in the attic somewhere, but I don't know if the rotors went back in correctly.
Honestly, pulling a fan from the yard is a good idea - gather up spares while you can!

the nail thing sounds like a good idea..ill see what i can do. thanks for all the help and advice everyone. ill post if anything comes up.thanks

Well I made a key and it was perfect diameter but I think it was too long the fan would not spin so I made it shorter the fan spins freely.. But when I opened it up to check it the back cover is all scratched...I think I messed it up... Went to all the nearby junk yards (self pull) and nothing. I'm going to the private ones tomorrow where I got the pump.. They are expensive but I need the fan.. Just an update if anyone is reading.. Thanks.

thanks oddball...hey am i correct to say that the v6 and v8 have the same fan? The number is the same on the ford website....can someone confirm...

OK, checked mine.
Arrows on the rotors go towards the cover (away from the fan blades) - the recess in the inner rotor makes room for the C clip on the shaft.

The key is round stock, 2.4mm diameter by 7.65mm long. It should *not* stick out past the inner rotor, as the cover sits flush against the rotors to make a seal. That motor assembly is probably shot now.

There are a few on eBay. One is even decently priced - $75 + $30 shipping. The others are $160 and up (quickly). My search was "(2000,2001,2002,00,01,02) lincoln ls fan"
I can sell you my fan motor as well. If your shroud and blades are in good shape then it's just wasted shipping to get the rest.

yeah i think i messed it up....there is a guy up here parting out his ls but he wants 450 for the fan, window regulator and battery...no way am i paying that..is it in working order and how much would you take for the motor oddbal?

PM sent.
Window regulators are available as Dorman parts easily and <$100. I wouldn't recommend grabbing a used battery, and they're new from the dealer for about $120.
