You need to check for vacuum leaks before you start throwing money at parts. You definitely have a leak somewhere. What Code do you have?

ok I am a mechanic by trade and a total, speed freak I got this MK for a 1oo.00 and it runs drives and looks great!!! until the mods now check engine light is on and the dang thing stalls at every stop light!
i pulled all the cats and make boobo with a
K&N "mass allready cleaned" it runs rough and rich. next question i serviced the trans new selector switch and speed sensr and 1-2 solenoids still hav:confused::confused::confused:e to be in or out of the throttle or else it bucks and kicks in third. also the trans is keaking out of th front of the trans soeone thought it needed a trans pump. what do you guys think?

I no longer have the ability to use aldata being that I moved and quit my job. I have wanted a VIII for some time now I modified my air intake box pulled the air ride and new compressor then out of nowhere the check engine light is on the oil from my K&N doesnt help I will wash it and do a much lighter app. but it wont idle right or take off check engine is on. Also found a vac leak fixed it made it better but not good how do I jump wire to find the codes on a 1993?

i replaced my intake with a fabbed cold air intake I replaced my cats and muflers with none just a resonator i pulled out the air bags and pump coil over kit installed. Where the air box goes i cut it out there was a moduel down there that I forgot to mount to the body but that has been mounted for a month and a half dont know what the moduel is for anyhow. I not a store installed an alarm new Alpine deck memphis m cllass amp JL subs changed the switching for the sunroof. also replaced neutral safety switch an 1,2 shift solenoids and spedo sensor. also when the car dies the speedo goes full buried maxed out!
 
That module sounds like the air ride module that you remounted. I don't know what the fabbed up cold air intake looks like but something tells me that the MAF is playing a big part in the way your car is running. You might not believe this but the stock air box with a paper filter is better than any cone filter could ever be. K&N with oil along with a Mark VIII's MAF sensor don't play well together. I would get some CRC MAF cleaner and make sure that thing is cleaned good. Let it sit and dry. Make sure your neutral safety switch is aligned right and something don't sound right about the new speed sensor you had installed.

One question.... Does your car upshift as you come to a stop? If you're in 3rd and start slowing down, does it go into 2nd and then 1st on it's own? If you're unsure, as you come to a coast, put your car in neutral and then come to a stop. Put it in gear and see if it stalls out on you.

Sounds like you need to sell your Mark to a real "mechanic" , pocket the money....and walk----that's still free in most states

this guy got way ahead of him self I would rather spend the time reading on the internet before riping things off that im not sure how they work or what there for

I have never put any wrench time in on the dual overhead cam motor let alone its a complex Lincoln I will figure it out. As for the guy who slammed my mechanical abilities my 240sx with a sr20 DET with 20 lbs of boost and built to eat american rednecks! I love my lincoln and have wanted one since I saw the first 1993. Oh yeah lets see you replace a chev truck fuel pump in a half an hour flat book says3.5 to 4.5 hours. Or an 2000 A-4 2.7 Biturbo timing belt in half time I specialize in european and japanees!
 
Hey, just slow down and read before you hit the post button. Kind of hard to understand what you are trying to say when it is so messed up. I would rather get flamed by these guys than ignored for it.

I really don’t think Lazer was making personal attacks. However you are leaving the door wide open with making foolish modifications prior to researching the work, if you did research the work, you would have found gutting cats WILL require a chip or Tuner for adjustment to ECU.. Also fabricating the Intake tube, you must also account for different air flow to the MAF and that also *might* require ECU adjustment... Not sure as I have not personally done it. The way you annunciate and communicate your question leaves people to question your abilities... I.e... Immature and Childish... (I am not attacking you! Simply just trying to show how others MAY view your post.)

Also on this board you will find extremely knowledgeable individuals who will go out of their way to help people at the drop of a dime.. THEY ARE ALSO Very quick to be Smart A$$'s so take that with a grain of salt.
One of the biggest things people hate is to answer questions repeatedly, the search function is not the best on the web but it does from time to time result in multiple answers to most questions..

Now for your issues,
Clean MAF.. #1
Replace Stock speed sensor to test. #2 see if that helps.
Do as nolimit95 said and cruise on Highway, put into Neutral, and come to stop and then put into gear and see if it stalls. #3
Chip or get a X-Cal or other tuner to adjust settings..

You may not want to but you may have to get universal cats reinstalled for the O2 Sensors to properly function...

Now my advice may not be completely accurate but if someone out there wants to add or modify it please feel free.

Again not an attack, just hoping you get a better understanding of the people on here.

I think he was reffering to me,
changing the fuel pump in a P/U is simple...remove the bed!
 
Now I was thinking on this my self you can have the o2 sencers prograned out cant you?
