As you guys know, Magnaflow/CAI/Tune is done to my 2002. It has 275,000 kms on it, Thought I'd launch with the aggressive tune.
I made some BAD shifts, the first was way too early. Second was alright.

Camera shook a bit because I wasn't expecting so much torque off the line from the track tune.

EDIT: (June 7, 1:25a.m.) I will make a few more runs and posts the videos. See if I can make a difference.

Looking at the video timer, looks like it took 8 seconds from launch to 100 kph (62 mph); I thought they would be faster than that. Is that a V6 or V8?

^

8 sec into the vid, drops the hammer and launches ... at 15 second mark, reaches 100Kph while topping out 2nd.

pulling 0-100Kph (62mph) in 7 seconds.

The Lincoln LS is/was not a QM car, never has, never will, never was.

sounds like it has a tiny bog down as it finishes shifting gears. did it do that before the tune? or are you letting off while your shifting?

True story. But that time can look a lot better if several factors weren't at play.

The main thing, Where I am, is well above Toronto (sea level). Air factor plays huge role. Also, the road I was on is wavy (alot of up and downs). Not to mention the car is old (275,000 kms, HP Loss), bad bearings in rear, and a Driver who sucks at shifting an automatic lol.

Its been doing that with the Tune, both the Econo and Aggressive. I surmise that has to do with my shifting time?

I will do a few runs, see if anything changes (On a better road) and post the vids here.

Ok so this run was Really good. Shifts were perfect, and below is the Results.. . .However...

So With this track tune I raced my wifes 2005 Stock LS... 3 Raced, 1 Roll start at 60, 1 Roll start at 40, and 1 roll start at 80. All three she beat me, marginally nudging me out.
I tried to record the first race, but its dark and camera doesn't pic up that well but you can see her tail lights through my passenger window, and eventually her car passing me. She lets off at 140.

So my 2002 with Magnaflow, CAI, and aggressive tune 2002 LS lost to the stock 2005... ouch... Really bad eggs...

OK, one question!

Where the

do I find a wife that wants to come out and beat my

on a Friday night doing Quarter miles ?

Seriously ... mine watches crime solving TV none stop!

Trade ?

HAhahhaha She's a keeper. And she enjoyed whooping my ass believe me =p

Ok so does the tune make the sst start in 1st instead of 2nd? My 02 always starts in 2nd which I dont really understand. I think I need to get the cai and exhaust done. Might have gotten beat by your wife but at least it sounds good... after that I will pro ably get the tuner.

On my '05 it'll start out in second. I'll start out in 1st SST and once it's moving just flip the lever over into auto for the best off the line performance. Zero, it sounds like your throttle body is closing or the timing is retarding between shifts. Little bog and bobble after each shift is not correct. Does it do that with the stock tune as well?

With the stock calibration, no it does not do that. Only with the Rob tunes does is have that bog between gears.

He has a 1st Gen. The throttle is a mechanical linkage to the gas pedal. It's not closing unless he is lifting his foot off the pedal.

sounds good!

Does the LS have a knock sensor? Maybe after the shift it's pulling timing out. After an upshift is a very likely time for spark knock to occur..

If you have user selectable options on your tuner maybe you can take 2 degrees out and see if it makes a difference

Yes a tune will be set to start out in 1st when selecting SST, however, a stock first GEN LS can be loaded up in second and make it step down to first gear in SST and you can hold it there if you know what you are doing.

You may have lost the races(s) but honestly...overall...I'd say you're winning ;)

Cable and all. However I am not letting off the pedal. Floored the whole time. As of late, the tranny is delaying between Reverse and drive shift. Possible, my tranny is just warn down? Low tranny fluid? I don't think I am low, I haven't noticed any leaks from the transmission (just the hydraulic fan from the other day)

Haha appreciate that. My 2002 was alot quicker, oh I'd say 100,000 kms ago. I think this is age, and wear slowing her down. The 2005 has 100,000 kms less, and 28 more HP from ford than my 2002 (despite my having upgrades).

I'm not sure about all that. But I believe at this point, its age. I've been very aggressive with this car since I bought it 7 years ago. I think in about a years time, It'll see something major, likely, a transmission failure.

I am already looking to replace it by end of this year with a Nissan Altima 3.5SE =D

Side note, I recently started running 89 octane (vs 91). I am not sure if the Tune requires 91, 91+ or what not. Any thoughts on that? I highly doubt 2 grades less in octane could effect the performance (unless you hear knocking). I am aware how octane grades work, (octane / heptane ratio / timing). But not sure if that really has been proven to effect performance in the LS?

Certainly that is a factor. Even the factory tune requires 91+. You do have a knock sensor (two actually), and it is causing the PCM to retard timing.

Why are you using 89? You won't save any money, because your mileage will be reduced.

It actually did that with 91 octane, I thought it was normal. Ive been running 91 octane for 7 year, and the tune for 4 years. I recently (about a month ago) switched to 89 octane.
That timing retardation was always there with the tunes.

That's because your tune has too much timing for your car... The knock sensor(s) then pull timing out... you won't hear pinging. What tuning device do you have?

even if the car was pulling some timing on the factory tune, now that you are running lower octane gas, you can bet on the car pulling even more timing, and making even less power and even wasting more gas...

pray that your knock sensors don't ever fail, it would suck to have to spend thousands to replace an engine all over a couple of dimes per gallon.

Nobody else thinks that could be a delayed reaction from the rev limiter? Can't say I've heard it on a slushbox but manuals make the same 'peow peow 'sound as it bounces off. 267K I hope you get a few more rides pushing that thing

It shifts before the rev limiter. The engine stumbles after the upshift.

I have the sct Xcal2 as well. My tuner gave me user selectable options for my tune. You can adjust several things like timing..

This is what I suggest that you do:

plug in the device, turn the key to ON, not start. It will say program vehicle? You say yes. It will ask change parameters? Say yes. Go to the line that says: WOT timing from 4-8K rpm... hit select and minus -2 degrees. Hit yes then load the tune as normal. Don't change anything else.
