Hey Guys

Thanks guys, I am very nervous for our kid but this was very much planned so I kind of knew what I was getting into.

On the design, I like it a lot. I dont want anything flashy and I miss the old school boats that used to own the road. This is a touch of the past but has all of the great features of now. Its no CTS-V but its a different kind of car.

We cant compare the LS to the DTS in style because they were designed for completely different clients. Also keep in mind the DTS is considered a Large Luxury Sedan, the same as a town car.

I am sure you do like the design because you bought it. The fact is the reason there are some many designs out there is that we all have are own taste. With over 200,000 DTS's sold (including a few to the US Presidents) many have your same view.

I never tried to compare the LS the DTS and never would. I am not a fan of the Town Car styling either. Unfortunately, for someone like myself that supports domestics, there are not many Large Luxury vehicles built that have appealing design. In my opinion, in this regard, the Europeans have this segment dominated (at a much higher price point).

Welcome to the Cadillac family! Awesome looking DTS, don't listen to the haters, the Northstars after 2002 and 2004 don't have head gasket issues, and I've never seen a DTS that leaked oil like the Northstars used to. In 2010 the 2007 model year DTS was awarded by J.D. Power as the most dependable car in the whole industry not only beating its rivals but cars like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. I plan on getting me a DTS one day I want a 2011 DTS Platinum in Black Raven with the Tuscany Leather. Did you give her a name yet? I don't know if Lincoln owners do this but all Cadillac owners give their caddys names.

Holy dead thread batman.

However, I would like to take this time to plug used 09 Cadillac STS-V's. I have been monitoring them closely :shifty:

That is all

Since the thread was dead anyway, can someone school me...STS V > CTS V or STS V < CTS V or STS V = CTS V?

Depends on which gen of the CTS V you mean.

Edit:
Actually in all honesty CTS just because it has an LS engine over the Northstar. But I prefer the design and size of the STS over a first gen CTS.

If a train left Chicago headed westbound averaging 50mph and a plane left Miami northbound averaging 600mph, how quickly can I get to Denver?? :) :p

From the looks of them, CTS = 2 door STS; STS = 4 door CTS. Am I accurate? Who knows, not me. Judging from pictures only.

The STS V was a high performance version of the STS, it was made from 2005 to 2010, and had a supercharged Northstar, not the 4.6 but a 4.4, the CTS V is probably the most well known of the three (XLR V not mentioned) it is still made today and from 2004 to 2007 had a 5.7L LS6 Corvette V8 and a 6.0L LS2 Corvette V8, from 2008 to present it has a supercharged 6.2L LSA Corvette V8 that produces 556 HP 0-60 3.9 seconds, quarter mile time for the second gen are 12.0 seconds at 118 MPH. STS V 469 HP 0-60 4.8 seconds, quarter mile time 13.1 seconds. Much like the regular CTS and STS the STS V is larger and heavier than the CTS V. STS V is a 4 door and CTS V is offerd in 4 door 2 door coupe and 4 door wagon forms.

STS is bigger, less focus on handling some tight corners and more about high speed freeway bombs. The cts is smaller and handles better

size: XLR<CTS<STS<DTS

CTS V = LS6 (early 1st gen, Z06) LS2 (late 1st gen, base) which are actually pushrod corvette motors. but solstice rear ends

the STS V and the XLR-V are blown northstars

the 2nd generation is completely different animal, from the ground up designed with the performance version in mind (which they didnt do too bad on the "hey what big a$$ motor can we cram in here" method) its got a blown LSA witch is basically a watered down (slightly!) version of the ZR1's LS9

as far as with is better between the STS-V and the CTS-V is mostly about what your needs/wants are, the STS-V is still damn fast but its a bigger car (I'd say close to a MKS) and the CTS-V is pretty much the same size as an LS. the CTS-V is also better for modding as its corvette power plant has no shortage of aftermarket stuff. the STS-V is also only available with an auto trans.

2nd gen CTS-Vs are also for the cool crowd with their two door model and the hipster sportwagon!

In my opinion: 2nd gen CTS-V coupe > sedan > wagon > late 1st gen CTS-V > early 1st gen CTS-V > STS-V

not really interested in a XLR-V, If i wasn't gonna have any room in a car, I would rather have a something like a cobra/Z06/ZR1. which brings me back to CTS-V coupe FTW!

I've been watching prices on STS-V's recently. One pulled up next to me one day and it just grabbed me, I like the much more understated look of the STS-V compared to the CTS-V. Everyone and their brother knows what a CTS-V is these days and they know how fast they are. Also the added size and comfort of the STS-v really notches it up in the livability department.

Yeah it terms of performance the CTS-V is the clear winner here, but oh well, it's not like the supercharged 4.4L V8 making 469 horses is slow by any means, just means the CTS-V with its LS9 is faster. Like how the space shuttle is faster than a fighter jet. Both are fast.

But that's fine, I prefer you all to like the CTS more than the STS, keeps the used prices low
