HIDs for less than $40 on ebay, give me your opinion

on my first gen, there is no plug on the headlight at all...just the bulb that fits in a socket.

no I do not have the factory HID, the plug on the back of the bulb runs on a harness that is INSIDE the the headlight unit itself. this goes to the outside of the unit with a square plug that does not fit on the ballast at all... the plug on the back of the bulb does fit on the ballast, but there is no way to fit the ballast inside the headlight unit, not like it is supposed to go inside it anyway.

Unless you have the slim ballast, you prob cant fit them inside the headlights so you'll have to drill a hole for the wire to come through. If you have slim ballasts, you can stick them where I did.

Only with slims thoug, because with the fat ones, the headlight wont sit back enough for the screw to go in. The ballast in the picture was the fat one, but I bought slim digitals and placed them in that same location and with those, the headlights managed to sit back to its normal spot without interference from the ballast.

That is exactly the answer I was looking for, thank you Alex.

What did you use to seal the hole back up? any suggestions?

I bought stock hid headlights. Those ballasts are for the hids in my fogs. Use something that is waterproof, bonds good to plastic, heat resistant, things like that. I have used clear small projects silicone adhesive (LN-207) .

I used it on my fogs lights to seal them back up and worked great. It's clear, waterproof, heat resistant, dries and stays flexible and wont crack, and it bonds to plastic real well. So far so good. It's also easy to take off if you ever need to get back into it, but bonds strong enough to hold them together. Will probably use this too on my headlights when I cut them open.

I still dont understand what plug inside the headlight he is talking about

Where the 9005 connector connects to the bulbs, it's inside the headlight. You connect that to the ballast and such and since it's inside the headlight he didn't get how to make it all work.

Says the guys who didn't know what connectors are inside the headlights. :p

Yeah, I guess he just didnt' know if the ballast went inside the headlight with all the connections or just to place it outside and he would have to drill a hole. I haven't done it myself so I wouldn't know, but just get an idea from having my headlights opened a few times.

will I have to drill a hole?

yes, there is a cover on the back side of the headlight house, you will have to drill a hole in it so that the wires that go to the ballast can plug into the harness for the actual headlight bulb itself, then after you run the power wires out of the headlights and in to the ballast you need to run a wire from the ballast back in to the headlight to the HID bulb, most kits have a grommet plug that fills the hole you need to make with the out and in wires in the grommet

u shut ur a$$!! when i put mine on it was plug n play no drilling , i didnt have to dig in to no connectors cuz the cover has tabs and come off....so i dunno wut hes talkin about

If the ballast can fit inside the headlight, there wont be the need for holes, but I dont think the fat ballast can fit in there so then holes for that will be needed

those are some cheap HID's! does anyone know if they have some slim-line ones? i was getting the slims for $60 w/ free ship before and i thought that was cheap. i will try these out and see how they compare. also, does anyone know if these angel eyes would work for the LS? i'm not sure what that those little LED looking things are, does anyone know? here's the link:

sorry i'm lost on this last page. what are you guys talking about? isn't this kit plug and play? let me try to describe the way i hooked mine up. i unplugged the factory bulb, inserted to the headlight as you would the regular oem bulb. next there are 2 wires that lead out from that hid bulb, which connect to the ballast if i'm not mistaken. then the ballast has a plug to hook up with the factory wiring (where the oem bulb would have plugged into). so i am kind of lost when you guys are talking about drilling and what-not. please elaborate.

Did you put the ballast inside od the headlight? how are you suppose to cennect the ballast to the bulb that is inside the headlight if there is a cover covering it. That's what we were talking about....I think.

If you're talking about slim ballast, yes they do

For the angel eyes, I dont get what you mean by LED looking things. I didn't see anything from the link.
